IMPEACHMENT LOOMS IN GUYUK LG AS COUNCILLORS SUMMON CHAIR OVER #150 MILLION LOAN

Fresh facts have emerged from Guyuk Local Government Council in Adamawa state that Nine (9) out of Ten (10) Councillors have summoned the Executive Chairman of the LGC,  Hon. Kassa D. Shallom to appear before them on the 24th May, 2021 for questioning over 7 count allegations levelled against him or risk impeachment.

The Councillors during the week strived assidously to serve the Chairman with impeachment notice, but was said to have refused to collect the notice when the Councillors met him eyeball to eyeball.

It took the intervention of a stakeholder and a prominent politician from the LGA who pleaded with the aggrieved Councillors not to sack him, and equally promised to compel the embattled Chairman to appear before them to answer all the allegations slammed against him.

The councillors were said to have initiated the impeachment process against Hon. Kassa popularly known as Chajawa, where they accused him of abuse office, misappropriation of funds and illegal collection of loan to the tune of #150 million and other issues.

A councillor who confided in NEWS PLATFORM, said that the battle line has already been drawn, and that since they have the majority of the Councillors, nothing will stop them from removing the chairman from office.

Speaking to NEWS PLATFORM on phone, the Chief Whip and Councillor representing Purakayo Ward,  Hon. Linus Chilge, said that they had served him, and that Hon. Chajawa had promised to appear before them on the 24th of this month to defend himself.

Hon. Chilge added that the Councillors have fixed Monday 17th, May,  2021, for a meeting during which they will deliberate more on the burning issue.

When contacted for his reaction, the Executive Chairman of the Council,  Hon. Kassa Shallom, said that he is not aware of any move to sack him,  saying that nobody has ever approached him with an impeachment notice.

Hon. Kassa told NEWS PLATFORM that nothing happened to him and his council, and that Guyuk LGC should not be dragged into any issue, and however threatened fire and brimestorm to any journalists that dare publish the report.
