DOVE FOUNDATION TO EMPOWER 650 IN MICHIKA, MADAGALI LGAs



The Dove Foundation is excited to announce its upcoming 2023 programme, aimed at providing assistance and support to the residents of Michika and Madagali local government areas. 


This comprehensive initiative seeks to reach out to approximately 400 beneficiaries from the 16 wards in Michika, as well as about 250 beneficiaries from the 10 wards in Madagali.


The primary focus of the 2023 programme is to extend a helping hand to individuals from key vulnerable groups, including those with special abilities, elderly women, and orphans or less privileged students in need of scholarships. Through this humanitarian effort, the Dove Foundation intends to not only provide essential resources such as cash gifts and fertilizer, but also to spread love, hope, and inspiration to our beloved community members.


"THE COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION AGENDA" encapsulates the core mission of the 2023 programme. Our founders, Engr Venjei Bitrus Kambasha and Mrs Dogara Venjei, are personally funding this visionary project. Their dedicated commitment to uplifting and transforming the community is truly commendable, and their unwavering support has been instrumental in the success of our initiatives.


The Dove Foundation's 2023 programme aims to create a positive impact by empowering the aged population, inspiring and supporting our youthful population, and providing equal opportunities for individuals living with special abilities. We firmly believe that by providing the necessary resources and support, we can contribute to the overall development and progress of our society.

EID-EL-KABIR: BABA- INNA FETES FAITHFUL, HARPS ON PEACE, UNITY

 



Erstwhile Gubernatorial Candidate of the People's Redemption Party (PRP), Lt. Commander Ibrahim Baba-Inna (rtd), has extended his hearty felicitations to Muslims umma on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration.


Baba Inna, felicitated with Muslims in Adamawa state and nation at large in his Sallah message to newmen in Yola, Adamawa state.


"I extend my heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all Muslims in Nigeria. May the blessings of this auspicious festival fill your hearts with joy, peace, and prosperity". He prayed.


He stated that Eid-ul-Adha holds a special place in their hearts as it reminds them of the remarkable faith, sacrifice, and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), saying that it is a time to reflect on the values of compassion, unity, and selflessness. 


"Let us come together as one community, regardless of our differences, and celebrate the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood". Baba Inna added.

EID-EL-KABIR- NJABARI, ADAMAWA REVENUE CHAIR, FELICITATES FINTIRI, BATHIYA, LAMIDO, OTHERS

 




The Executive Chairman Adamawa Internal Revenue Services (AIRS), Alh. Hamman Adama Njabari has felicitated with Muslim Ummah on the occasion of 1444 EID-EL-KABIR Sallah celebration. 


NJabari also congratulated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, his Deputy Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, Speaker, Rt.Hon. Bathiya Wesley and other members of the 8th Adamawa Assembly. SSG Hon. Awwal D. Tukur, Chief of Staff Government House Yola, Dr. Edgar Amos and other members of the State Executive Council on the occasion of 2023 Eid-El-Kabir sallah celebration. 


The AIRS Boss, in a Sallah message on Behalf of Management and the Entire AIRS Staff, congratulated His Royal Highness the Lamido of Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha and other members of Adamawa State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, Religious leaders and 21 LG's Council Chairmen on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir Sallah Celebration.

The Speaker in a statement through his media office and made available to newsmen in Yola, said he is pouring his heart to all Muslim Ummah for this year’s sallah which is being celebrated around the world.


He congratulated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, other members of the 8th Assembly, leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other teeming supporters on the occasion Sallah celebration.

ADHA NAMES PRINCIPAL OFFICERS, HOUSE C'TTEE CHAIRMEN



The Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, on Monday, announced the appointment of Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa constituency) as the new Majority Leader.NEWS PLATFORM 


Rt. Hon. Bathiya, also announced the appointment of the Member representing Maiha constituency, Hon. Jingi Belel as Deputy M/Leader and Hon. Yerima Moses (Michika) as Chief Whip.


He also announced Hon. Hammajabu Japhet (Verre) as Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Umar Suleiman Alkali(Yola North), Minority Leader, Hon. Umar Bobbo Ismaila (Fufore/Gurin) Minority Whip.


He said Hon. Sahabo Yohanna Jauro (Mubi South) is the Deputy Minority Leader, while Hon. Musa Abdulmalik Jauro (Ganye) Deputy Minority Whip.

Kate Raymond Mamuno of Demsa constituency is the Committee Chairman on Women Affairs and Social Development with Hon.  Moses Yerima of Michika as Chairman Committee on Water Resources.

EX-COACH OF ADAMAWA UNITED ELECTED FINANCIAL SEC OF NFCA

 


Former Adamawa United Chiech Coach and one Time Technical Adviser of the Same team Mr Justin Pwanidi Madugu has been elected as the financial secretary of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association. 

The election, which held last Wednesday at Moshood Abiola  Stadium Abuja had the Numan Born Polling thirty-three Yes Votes by the Congress.

The Chief Coach of the Nigerian under 20 male Team (Fling Eagles)Isa Ladan Bosso who gallantly lost out in the quarter finals under 20 World Cup tournament in Argentina  to South Korea with a narrow 0-1 Margin, was unanimously elected as the President with 33 Yes Votes.

Coach Justin Madugu who is also the Assistant National Coach of the Senior female National female Football Team,  the Falcons who are billed to participate in the Wirkd Cup holding in a Jointly hosted tournament by New-zealand and Australia.

The tournament will kick off from July 20th.

Justin  Pwanidi maiduguri is in the team since 2012, had won many laurels, including gold, silver, and Bronze after various outings with the team.Appointed Assistant Coach Senior National Women’s Football Team 

He joined the Falcons on January 2012 - August, 2013, January 2014 - October 


2015, April 2018 - July 2019, Oct 2021 till date.

He is among the Coaching Crew, taking the  the 23 Squad to Australia and New-Zealand.

4 "SHILA" BOYS INCLUDING 13 YRS OLD IN POLICE NET




Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 4 suspected "Shila" boys including a 13 years old for attacking 2 persons and snatching their handsets.


The suspects were apprehended for attacking a woman and a young man identified as Zakari Yahaya on the 21st June, 2023 between 7:30pm to 8:00pm


One of the suspect and the 13 years old Muhammadu Sudest of Rumde in Yola North LGA, confessed attacking and snatching handset and N85 belonging to Zakari.


Muhammadu, who just completed his primary school, narrated that Nasiru and himself sighted Zakari at Doubeli with a handset and beat him up and dispossessed him of his property.


He confessed that this is the 3rd time he was arrested by the police for "shila" activities, saying that recently, they pursued a she goat at Zango street and killed it with sticks and stones and sold it.


He narrated that they also use insecticide in killing she goats, explaining that the mix the chemical with grains and give it them, and that they die by the time they have eaten it.


He said that they usually sell the dead animal or carcass to one Mama Merti between N6000 to N7000, saying that the woman prepares it and sell it at a joint within Jimeta.


Muhammadu, who denied taking hard drugs, said he smokes Indian hemp and nothing else, saying he was also arrested for stealing a handset.


He stated that he started stealing and following bad boys when his father who is a mason divorced his mother who is now in Kano state and married another woman.


The Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the arrest, said that the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.

COURT SENTENCES MAN TO 12 YRS IN PRISON FOR DUPING LADY N5.2MILLION



The Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola, Adamawa State has convicted and sentenced a 30 years old man, Ahmed Mohammed to 12 years imprisonment for the offences of "criminal breach of trust, cheating and impersonation".


Magistrate Alheri Ishaku sentenced Ahmed (aka Babangida) after he was tried and found guilty for offences which contravened sections 302, 312 and 145 of the penal code law 2018.


Ahmed, an indigent of Kaduna State, bagged 5 years prison term or N150,000, option of fine for the offence of criminal breach of trust and 5 years jail term or pay N100,000 fine for cheating.


He is to spend another 2 years behind bars or alternatively pay the sum of N100,000 fine. All the sentences, according to the judge, are to run concurrently.


The judge also ordered him to pay the sum of N5.250million to Munete Benson Atanga and N870,000 to Hasiya Hamman as compensation as well as N150,000 cost of litigation.


Ahmed duped Munete Benson of Sangere Futy of the amount of money after he had promised to offer her Covid-19 Financial Grant or Empowernment in June, 2022.


The convict, who was parading himself as biological son of then Minister of Police Affairs, also deceived his 2nd victim, Hasiya Hamman and defrauded her of the aforestated amount.


He was arrested following a complaint by Munete Benson Atanga, to the Commissioner of Police dated 9th December, 2022 where she narrated how Ahmed had tricked and defrauded her.


He was arraigned before the court by the Prosecutor, Inspector S.S. Nicholas, where he admitted having perpetrated the crime.


The prosecuting police officer assembled witnesses whose testimonies corroborated the guilt plea of the convict as provided by the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, hence his conviction.

MUBI LAWMAKER SPONSORS MOTION ON DESTRUCTION OF HOUSES BY MINERS



Member representing Mubi South constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Yohanna Sahabo Jauro, has raised matter of public concern on the activities of miners in his constituency.


Already, the House of Assembly presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, has constituted 5-man an adhoc committee to investigate alleged illegal mining in Mubi South LGA.  


The investigative committee has Rt. Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo (Numan constituency ) as its Chairman.


The members of the committee include; Hon. Ismaila Umar Daware (Furin/Gurin), Hon. Yohanna Sahabo Jauro (Mubi South), Hon. Kefas Calvin (Toungo) and Hon. Yerima Moses Zah (Michika).


Rt. Hon. Bathiya mandated the committee as well as the Ministry of Environment to carry out investigation and gave 1 week to the committee within which to submit its findings.


Earlier, Hon. Yohanna, briefed his colleagues about the activities of a construction company in a community known as Unguwan Kara in Lamorde ward, Mubi South LGA.


Hon. Yohanna lamented that the company has been carrying out mining in residential areas which is causing pollution and destroying houses.


He said that the company promised to render community service but failed to do so, and prayed the Assembly to constitue a committee to investigate it as well as stop the activities.


Speaking on the motion, Hon. Sunday Peter, said that mining in residential areas is dangerous as it causes erosion as well as affecting the lives of the inhabitants.


He asked the Assembly to address in order to protect lives and property of the citizens, saying that mining in residential areas is against the law.


On his part, Hon. Ismail Umar Daware, stressed the need for the Assembly to direct the ministry to go carry out assessment and submit comprehensive report to the committee.

8TH ASSEMBLY PUSHES FOR TOUGHER PUNISHMENT FOR "SHILA" BOYS



Barely a week to its inauguration, the Adamawa State House of Assembly has started legislating on a bill to increase the severity of punishment for "Shila" boys. NEWS PLATFORM 


The "Shila" boys, who operate within the state capital with dangerous weapons, could face a stiff penalties under a bill  presented before the assembly on Wednesday.


The move to impose heavier punishment is coming few days after the 8th assembly under the leadership Rt. Hon Bathiya Wesley, was inaugurated.


The legislation, sponsored by Hon. Suleiman Alkali (Yola North) is seeking to expand a range of punishment with a view to ending the nefarious activities of the hoodlums.


Already, the bill tagged," a Bill for a Law to Amend the Adamawa State Penal Code Law Number 10 of 2018 to Provide for Stiffer Punishment against the Activities of the Shila Insurgence Group , to Eliminate all Forms of Mischief to Provide for Maximum Security Group" has scaled through 1st reading.


The legislators unanimously considered the merits of the bill and supported its 1st reading at a plenary presided by the  Speaker. Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley.


After reading the bill for 1st time, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, directed the clerk to the assembly to schedule the bill for 2nd reading at the next legislative day.

Adamawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, on Wednesday constituted an adhoc committee to investigate alleged illegal mining in Mubi South LGA. NEWS PLATFORM 


Announcing the membership of the committee while presiding over plenary session, Rt. Hon. Bathiya, said Rt. Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo (Numan) is to serve as Committee Chairman.


He said that Hon. Ismaila Umar Daware (Furin/Gurin), Hon. Yohanna Sahabo Jauro (Mubi South), Hon. Kefas Calvin (Toungo) and Hon. Yerima Moses Zah (Michika) are to serve as members of the committee.


He mandated the committee as well as the Ministry of Environment to carry out investigation and given 1 week to the committee within which to submit its findings.

MAN KILLS YOUNGER BROTHER, CUTS OFF HIS HEAD WITH A HOE IN ADAMAWA



A man suffering from epilepsy identified as Amos Christopher, has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly beating up his younger brother to death. NEWS PLATFORM


The 24 years Amos of Dobi village in Ga'anda District, Gombi LGA, killed their last born (4 years old) known as Thyson Christopher and subsequently beheaded him.


The accused, who is battling with the disease, gruesomely murdered his younger brother on Monday, 19th June, 2023 when his health condition became worst.


The suspect and the 1st born of the family, had a seizure and slumped on the 18th June, 2023, where he was brought back home by neighbours.


His health condition deteriorated with a complete change in his behaviour the following morning where he violently attacked his mother and younger brothers who were at home with him.


He grapped the 4 years old boy and dragged him into a room where he locked up the door from inside and beat him up to death. All effort to rescue him by his mother was fruitless.


He carried the dead body outside where he used the hoe in his possession and cut off the head as well as broke it into two.


While being interrogated by the Spokesman of the command SP, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the suspect who hardly speak, said he did not do anything, saying that his younger brother is at home.


Fielding questions from Spokesman, the father of suspect as well as the victim, Christopher Haruna, said that the incident occurred while he was at farm and confirmed that Amos is battling with epilepsy.


KIDNAPPED PASTOR, CHURCH LEADERSHIP HONOUR CP WITH AN AWARD




The leadership of the Freedom Power Chapel International, Yola, Adamawa State, has honoured the Commissioner of Police (CP), Afolabi Babatola for his commitment in protecting lives and property.


The church presented an award to the CP in his office at the Police Headquarters a courtesy visit on Tuesday, in appreciation to his role in when 2 Pastors of the Church were abducted.


According to the Church, the honour is to encourage the CP and the Officers of the Command who work relentlessly to protect lives and property, promote peace and unity amongst diverse people of the State. 


Speaking while presenting an award to the CP, General Overseer of the Church, Mike Ochigbo, and the victim applauded the officers and men of the command especially the Crack Squad for sustaining peace being enjoyed in the state.


Responding, the CP who was elated with the award, commended the Church Members for maintaining its core values and principles of bequeathing to the peaceful coexistence and a sense of belonging that are fundamental to preaching peace in the State. 


The CP further re-assured the government and good people of Adamawa State of a safer society that will constantly promote peace, tranquility, and peaceful coexistence.

The leadership of the Freedom Power Chapel International, Yola, Adamawa State, has honoured the Commissioner of Police (CP), Afolabi Babatola for his commitment in protecting lives and property.


The church presented an award to the CP in his office at the Police Headquarters a courtesy visit on Tuesday, in appreciation to his role in when 2 Pastors of the Church were abducted.


According to the Church, the honour is to encourage the CP and the Officers of the Command who work relentlessly to protect lives and property, promote peace and unity amongst diverse people of the State. 


Speaking while presenting an award to the CP, General Overseer of the Church, Mike Ochigbo, and the victim applauded the officers and men of the command especially the Crack Squad for sustaining peace being enjoyed in the state.


Responding, the CP who was elated with the award, commended the Church Members for maintaining its core values and principles of bequeathing to the peaceful coexistence and a sense of belonging that are fundamental to preaching peace in the State. 


The CP further re-assured the government and good people of Adamawa State of a safer society that will constantly promote peace, tranquility, and peaceful coexistence.

BANK MANAGER THREATENS LIFE OF ADAMAWA GOVT OFFICIAL



The Branch Manager of Polaris bank in Yola, Adamawa State, Dahiru Tukur, on Monday appeared before Nassarawo Area Court over alleged "criminal intimidation".


Dahiru, who resides in Yola South Local Government Area,  threatened female official of the Ministry of Land and Survey, Adamawa State, Adama Mamman.


He was arraigned before Hon. Uba Ibn Aliyu led Area court on the 9th June, 2023 by the Police Command, over alleged offence contrary to section 384 of the penal code law.


While arraigning the defendant, Inspector Danjuma alleged that the 50 years old defendant stormed the woman's office and threatened to deal with her.


The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence. He was admitted to bail and the matter adjourned to the 19th June, 2023 for hearing.


At the resumed sitting, counsel to the defendant, A. A. Tahir, said they were not ready to proceed with the case for failure of the prosecution to comply with the requirement of the law.


Tahir stated that the matter is criminal in nature, and that the Administration of Criminal Justice Law provides that the defendant be served with prove of service.


He urged the court to direct the prosecution to comply the rules of the court before the commencement of hearing, and asked the court to adjourn the matter.


Responding, the prosecutor, Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, said that the defendant was arraigned on FIR where he pleaded not guilty as a result of which the matter was adjourned for hearing.


He objected to the application and asked the court to proceed and call his witnesses whom he had assembled to testify in court.


After hearing both parties, the presiding judge adjourned the case to the 22nd June,2023 for ruling on the defendant's application.

MADAGALI VOTERS MADE WISE DECISION BY RE-ELECTING JILANTIKIRI- BATHIYA



Adamawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon.  Bathiya Wesley, says Madagali electorate have made wise decision by re-electing Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri for 2nd term.


Rt. Hon. Bathiya, stated this at a civic reception organised in honour of Hon. Jilantikiri, on his re-election and inauguration as member representing Madagali.

     

He applauded Madagali electorate for entrusting Hon. Jilantikiri with another mandate, saying that the decision has given him opportunity represent them at the 8th Assembly.   


He appealed to them not relent in supporting the lawmaker so as to enable him provide effective representation at the hallowed chamber, and felicitated with him on his re-election and inauguration.    

   

He assured that the Assembly is poised towards giving attention to effective legislation which will bring the much needed transformation and developments in the state.

Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, used the opportunity and called on the electorate in the LGA to support Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration to enable it succeed.


In his remarks, the member representing Madagali constituency, Haruna Jilantikiri, thanked his constituents for the support and cooperation at all times and promised to sustain his empowerment programmes.


Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri commended Governor Fintiri led administration for its giant strides in and around state and specifically lauded him for tackling the security challenges while urging him to sustain the tempo.


Earlier in his address, the PDP Chairman Madagali LGA, Ibrahim Zadaku said that the member has empowered his constituency projects.


Also speaking, the Chairmen of the LGC and that of NULGE respectively, Rev Andrawus Gadzama, and Yahya Aji, described Hon. Jilantikiri as tested and trusted legislator.


On his part, the representative of youths, Ali Adamu described Jilantikiri as a grassroots politician who breaks records in sustaining relationship with the electorate through the provision of projects and empowerment programmes.

SEN. BINOS ORGANISES RECEPTION, THANKS FINTIRI, ELECTORATE FOR SUPPORT






Senator representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, Binos Dauda Yaroe has appreciated his constituents for giving him their mandate at the recently conducted elections which enable him return for second term in the 10th Assembly.


Speaking at a swearing-in reception he organised which was held at GDSS in Mayo-Belwa LGA over the weekend, Senator Binos pointed out that his achievements and his success stories would not have been possible without the unflinching support by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.


He stated, "For instance, in all the free medical outreaches I conducted, they were fully supported by the Fresh-Air Governor. This is evidenced by the fact that all the free medical outreaches were carried out in government-owned hospitals.


"The only free medical outreach that we did not conduct in a government hospital was the one who carried at Demsa LGA, which the Archbishop LCCN gave us the church's medical center. All my achievements have been made possible because of the Governor's support".


Senator Binos said that his emergence as victor at the recent election was made possible by the electorate of the Adamawa South Senatorial District, noting that he could not thank them enough.


In his words, "I'm not the best, but the people of Adamawa South voted for me in 2019 and 2023 because they believed in me. Hence I thank them all for given me their mandate and believing in me".


Senator Binos Yaroe said that his return for the second term at the 10th Assembly would give him another opportunity to provide the needed dividends of democracy for his constituents, adding that he would prioritize the welfare of his people.


The Adamawa South Senator, who used the medium to appreciate the PDP State Executive Council and the party's stakeholders for their support and cooperation, noted that he would do everything humanly possible to make the party proud.


He stated, "As you all know, my first priority is to provide free medical outreach to my constituents. My second priority is to provide water supply. My major concern is the health and wellbeing of my people, and we all know that good drinking water enhances the healthy livelihoods of the people.


"I would not relent in embarking on free medical outreach. God willing, on 17th July, we will conduct free medical outreach in Ganye LGA. On water supply, I've been able to drill over 25 industrial bore-holes across the 9 LGAs in my Constituency, and I'll continue to do that for the benefit of my constituents".


Senator Binos further said, "At the 9th Assembly, I was like JJC. But now at the 10th Assembly, I know the workings in the Senate, hence my constituents should expect more people-oriented projects and programmes"


Due to the rich cultural heritage in Adamawa South Senatorial Zone, Senator Binos disclosed plans to organize a mega cultural dances to enable all the tribes on the district to showcase their cultural heritage.


Senator Binos pointed out that being in the opposition party in the Senate would not hinder him from providing result-oriented policies and programmes for the benefit of his people.


In his goodwill message, a PDP Stakeholder, Barr. D.D. Azura, expressed optimism that Senator Binos Yaroe would perform in the 10th Assembly far beyond what he did in the last four years.


Azura, who appreciated the Media for the role being played, calked on women to emulate the Wife of Senator Binos who always supports and stands by him in his political endeavour.


He thanked the people of Adamawa South Senatorial Zone for seeing the need to re-elect Senator Binos, assuring them that the Senator would not disappoint them.


In his remarks, Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCC) and President of Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Musa Panti Filibus, prayed God Almighty to give Senator Binos the wisdom and foresight to provide good governance for the benefit of his constituents.


Archbishop Panti called on the people of Adamawa South Senatorial District to promote peaceful coexistence, where he described peace as imperative for human existence.


Also speaking, Alh. Mohammed Gidado Imam, PDP stakeholder from Jada LGA, said that the era of politics is over, hence Senator Binos would put smiles on the faces of people irrespective of party differences.


According to Imam, the free medical outreaches being conducted by Senator Binos Yaroe have been touching the lives of people irrespective of religion or tribe, hence the need for the masses to support the Senator to enable him provide more dividends of democracy.


On her part, Hon. Aishatu Musa, Women Leader for Binos Campaign Council, said that women of Adamawa South Senatorial Zone are happy that Senator Binos has returned to the Senate, hence they should expect more democracy dividends.


Hon. Laraba Kefas, who could not hide her joy, assured the people of Adamawa South Senatorial District that Senator Binos would run an all-inclusive leadership. She noted that everybody would have a sense of belonging.


On his part, the PRO Miyyeti Allah Adamawa State, Mal. Mohammed Jika, pointed out that Senator Binos has restored peace and unity among the inhabitants of Numan Federation, noting that the Fulani are part of the major beneficiaries of the free medical outreach being conducted by the Senator.


He appealed to Senator Binos to consider the wellbeing of their cattle by embarking on vaccination and other health treatment of their animals, assuring the Senator of Fulbe's support and cooperation.


Rev. Bans Obed from the Bachama Kingdom, commended Senator Binos Yaroe for his commitment and determination to improving the wellbeing of his constituents, adding that, "I really commend Senator Binos for the free medical outreach".


According to him, "Senator Binos has the largest Constituency in Adamawa State, and his commitment to saving lives is commendable. I call on the people of all tribes in Adamawa South to unite themselves".


Also speaking, Sarkin Baka, Alh. Mohammed Tola, said that Senator Binos Yaroe has helped people irrespective of religion or tribe, where he called on other politicians to emulate the Senator by providing the needed dividends of democracy to the masses.


A renowned young politician in Mayo-Belwa LGA, Hon. Henry I. Kwataden, who described Senator Binos Yaroe as the best senator that Adamawa State has ever produced, commended the Adamawa South Senator for reaching out to the masses via his people-oriented projects.


Dr Alfred Yahaya, the first medical doctor in Yandan land, appreciated the efforts of Senator Binos in improving the health status of his constituents, which he said would go a long way in enhancing the livelihoods of the masses.


Earlier in his welcome address, the Vice Chairman PDP in Mayo-Belwa LGA, Mr Samaila Yusuf, urged Senator Binos to maintain the tempo he maintained for the past four years in reaching out to the less privileged, where he called on the people to rally round and support Senator Binos Yaroe to enable him provide more dividends of democracy for the benefit of the masses.

DEMSA COMMUNITY HOLDS GRAND RECEPTION FOR KATE MAMUNO




Kodomun Community in Demsa Local Government Area, Adamawa state has organised reception for Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, on her re-election and inauguration as member for 2nd term.


Hon. Kate Mamuno who is the only female lawmaker at the House of Assembly, represented Demsa constituency from 2019 to 2023 and was re-elected for another 4 year term in 2023.


Speaking at the event held in Kodomun on Saturday, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, appreciated the community and Demsa LGA for re-electing her.


Rt. Hon. Bathiya, said that he is aware that she did not fullfil all her campaign promises like them, and appealed to them to exercise patience.


He pledged the readiness of the Assembly to support her in her legislative business and thanked them for honouring their daughter and the only female legislator.


In her remarks, the celebrant and Member representing Demsa constituency, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, thanked the community for the befitting reception organised to honour her.


She promised to lobby for the infrastructure not only in Kodomun but entire Demsa LGA, assuring that their request for a police outpost will be considered by the government.


On his part, the Chairman of the occasion, Prince Benjamin Francis Dire Ph.D, congratulated her on her re-election and wished her success in her office.


According to him, Hon Kate Raymond deserves the honour because she fought a good fight, saying that the civic reception will signal a re-orientation.


Prince Benjamin, said he is optimistic that her 2nd term in office as a legislator will bring good news and hope to their people and Adamawa State in general. 


Also speaking, the National Chairman Pene Da Bwatiye, Pious Raymond, thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for approving the creation Kodomun district and appealed for farm implements to boost agriculture.


In his goodwill message, the District Head of Kodomun, Deen Peters, thanked her for making the community proud, saying that the community organised the reception to celebrate her.


He charged her and other politicians to full their campaign promises to their electorate, and appealed to her to be a woman of honesty and of her words like her father. 


The royal father told the gathering that he is confident that their daughter is going to do her best at the Assembly and urged her to lobby for the dividends of democracy for electorate.


Mr. Deen Peters, pleaded with her to lobby for extension of road network from old Demsa to Kodomun to ease the movement of their electorate.

BREAKING: COURT DECLARES IMPEACHMENT OF MUBI SOUTH LGC CHAIR ILLEGAL, NULL, VOID



Adamawa State High Court of Justice No 7 on Friday, declared the purported impeachment of the Chairman Mubi South Local Government Council, Hon. Hamidu Jingi Dirbishi, as illegal, null and void.


Hon. Justice Ahmed Isa, also declared that the removal of the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ishaku Dauda, as illegal ab initio, null and void and of no consequence whatsoever.


He however declared that the replacement of Mohammed Auwal Haruna, as Chairman following the purported removal of Hon. Hamidu Dirbishi is illegal, null and void and restrained him from parading or holding himself out as Chairman of the LGC.


Justice Isa who made the declaration while delivering judgement in suit filed Mohammed Haruna, stated that Hon. Hamidu Dirbishi and his Vice were never removed from office.


He further declared that all actions purportedly taken or executed by the said Mohammed Haruna in his capacity or office as Chairman of Mubi South LGC or by any person parading to be the Vice Chairman are null and void and of no effect whatsoever.


He further restrained him and the Mubi South LGC from interfering with the functions and duties of Hon. Hamidu Dirbishi and Ishaku Dauda as Chairman and Vice Chairman of Mubi South LGC.


He awarded the sum of N200,000 as damages against Hon. Mohammed and the council in favour of Hon. Hamidu Dirbishi and Ishaku for unlawful interference with their duties and functions as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.


According to him, the process leading to the purported impeachment was hurriedly carried out, saying that the councillors acted with impunity and arrogance.


He stated that the steps provided by law for the impeachment of the council Chairman and Vice were flagrantly breached by the councillors, declaring that the Chairman was never impeached from office. 


Earlier, ruling on the preliminary objection filed by Hon. Hamidu Dirbishi, through his Counsel A. A. Adam, the judge sustained it and struck out the suit.


He struck out the suit for failure to make Adamawa House of Assembly a party and failure to show any cause of action.


He held that the matter cannot be effectively determined without the House of Assembly being a party, and resolved 2 issues formulated in favour of defendants against the plaintiff.


Reacting, Counsel to the Defendants/Counter Claimants, A. A. Adam commended the judge for his wisdom and the time taken to arrive at a wonderful and erudite judgement.


Also in his reaction, the Chairman of the LGC, Hon. Hamidu Jingi Dirbishi, appreciated the court and the judge for a well considered judgement, saying that he has been vindicated.


He thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, House of Assembly, PDP Chairman in the State, A. T. Shehu and other stakeholders from State to LG level, and Councillors who stood behind.


While appreciating his electorate in Mubi South LGA for their support, he appealed to them to rally round Governor Fintiri led administration to enable it deliver more dividends of democracy.

POLICE ARREST TWO CAR THIEVES IN ADAMAWA



The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two youngmen accused of stealing a car at a commercial bank Yola.  


NEWS PLATFORM learnt that several cars belonging to residents had been reported stolen at different locations within the metropolis few weeks ago.


The suspects include: Danlami Musa, 30, of Sangere along Numan road in Adamawa State, Alhassan Dankwambo, 35, of Tudun Wada bypassed, Kaduna State and Shirajo Mai Kudi, Gombe State.


The trio, who live in their respective States, arranged during phone conversation to meet in Yola, for their operation of which they succeeded in stealing the car, but they were nabbed by the police.


The accused persons stole the car,Toyota Corolla at the UBA bank in Yola, and sold it to one Aminu Shafiu in Bauchi State at the sum of N800,000 only.


Narrating the incident, Alhassan Dankwambo confessed that he was the one who stole the car at the bank and handed it over to Danlami at welcome to Yola. 


He said he got the sum of N250,000 out of the proceeds and used his own share and paid schools of his kids, bought food for his wives and sewing machines to the fianceé of his friend known as Aisha in Kaduna State.


Confirming the arrest, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, spokesperson of the command, said that the suspects are in police custody, and that they will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

I WILL PROTECT THE SANCTITY OF MY MANDATE- SPEAKER



The new Speaker of the 8th Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, has pledged to strive to protect the sanctity of his mandate.


Rt. Hon. Bathiya made the pledge in his address shortly after his inauguration as the Speaker of the 8th Assembly in Yola, Adamawa State on Tuesday.


He explained that the mandate is a sacred one, and that he intends to do everything within his power to protect its sanctity.


He thanked God for making it possible to witness the historic occasion as well as his amiable colleagues for electing him to be the Speaker of the 8th Assembly. 


"As a new Speaker, I will work assiduously with my colleagues to consolidate on the achievements of my predecessors. I will work for the protection and promotion of the right of the legislative arm". He assured.


He promised to champion the welfare of his colleagues, members of the Assembly Service Commission, permanent as well as auxiliary staff of the legislature.


He thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his unflinching support to the legislative arm since his assumption of office, and urged him not to relent in his good work.


He applauded him for the tremendous developmental strides he recorded, assuring him of dynamic collaboration between the  arms of government for peace, tranquility, stability and cohesion.


Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, appreciated his constituents for their prayers, support and solidarity, and promised to remain a loyal servant to them. 

WOMAN, OTHER REMANDED FOR STEALING 5 BAGS OF BEANS BELONGING TO A JOURNALIST



The Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola, Adamawa State on Tuesday, remanded Zainab Hassan and Godwin Tabakiya accused of theft and dishonestly receiving of stolen property.


Magistrate Alheri Ishaku ordered the remand of the defendants after both of them pleaded guilty to the offences contrary to sections 276 and 308 of penal code law.


Thereafter, the judge adjourned the case to the 6th July, 2023 for the purpose of corroboration and summary trial.


Godwin was arrested on the 9th June, 2023 for the theft of 5 bags of soya beans belonging to the Guardian Newspaper Correspondent, Emmanuel Ande of Sangere Futy in Girei LGA.


The prosecutor, Inspector S.S Nicholas, informed the court that Godwin made away with the property on the 8th June, 2023, and sold it to Zainab Hassan.


He stated that the 1st defendant tresspassed into house where the nominal complainant rented a store and carted away 5 bags of beans valued N140,000.

DRUNK MAN DEFILES MINOR AFTER GIVING HER N10 IN ADAMAWA



A drunk man simply identified as Sadiq Ahmed has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 7 year old girl (names withheld).


The 39 years old Sadiq of Abuja road in Yola South LGA, confessed defiling the minor of the same address on the 12th June, 2023.


Narrating the incident at the police headquarters on Tuesday, the accused said that he had perpetrated the crime while he was drunk with corn juice (Burukutu).


He said that he does take anything except corn juice and deeply regretted defiling the little girl.


The spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrest, saying that the suspect was nabbed following a complaint by the father of the victim.


The father informed the police that the suspect came to his house while they were away and gave his daughter the sum of N10 and subsequently defiled her.


SP Nguroje, said that the Commissioner of Police, AfolabI Babatola, who had expressed concern over the incident, vowed to ensure the prosecution of the suspect.

The member representing Hong constituency, Hon. Bathiya Wesley has emerged the Speaker of the 8th Adamawa State Assembly.

Likewise, Hon. Buba Mohammed Jijiwa of Jada Mbulo has emerged the Deputy Speaker.

Both Speaker and Deputy emerged unopposed .

DEMOCRACY DAY: AIRS BOSS, NJABARI GREETS FINTIRI, OTHERS


The Chairman Adamawa Internal Revenue Services, Alhaji Hamman Adama Njabari, has commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri For meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the lectorate especially in the areas of infrastructure and human capital development.


Njabari made the commendation in a message on behalf of AIRS Management and Staff while commemorating the 2023 Democracy Day Celebration.


The Revenue Services Boss, congratulated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas and other members of the House, Local Government Council Chairmen, Captains of the Industries, Members of the Business Community the good people of Adamawa on the occasion of democracy day celebration


The Revenue Boss also used the medium and called on the people of the state to complement the effort of Governor Fintiri led administration in its effort to boost revenue generation in the state by paying their TAXES to enable government continue with the people oriented projects


As Governor of Adamawa State, the chairman of AIRS affirms that Fintiri has contributed to various reforms in the state.


He prayed that the almighty God will continue to bless Gov Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and grant him good health and long life.

WITCHCRAFT: POLICE NAB 3 OFFICERS, OTHERS FOR BEATING 2 WOMEN TO DEATH




Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 10 people including 3 police officers as well as vigilantes for killing 2 women accused of witchcraft in Roma community, Song LGA.


The women, who were 3 in number and hail from the community , were stripped naked and beaten up mercilessly by the affected as a result of which 2 of them died.


A statement by the PPRO, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, which was made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Sunday, said that the incident occurred in Roma, Dumne Development Area, Song LGA.


SP Nguroje said that the command came across a viral video where the Police Officers attached to Dumne Divisional Police Headquarters and Vigilantes were sighted maltreating and assaulting the women in an unprofessional manner.


"The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, expressed shock over the unprofessional conduct displayed by the said Inspector, Ahmed Suleiman as well as Vigilantes members as seen in the viral video". He stated.


The Spokesman said that the CP who was irked by the unfortunate incident, immediately, deployed the Deputy Commissioner of Police who arrested those seen maltreating and assaulting the women.


He said that the CP had ordered for a thorough investigation into the immediate and remote cause(s) of what he described as condemnable act as well as ensure speedy dispensation of justice.


He said, "The CP has ssured that any act of indiscipline and lawlessness will not be tolerated under his watch as those found guilty of this heinous crime against humanity will surely be brought to book".

ADAMAWA 7th ASSEMBLY WINDS DOWN WITH 65 BILLS, 63 RESOLUTIONS



The 7th Legislature of the Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed no fewer than 65 bills as well as 63 resolutions for good governance in the state.


According to the Assembly, out of the 65 bills enacted from June 2019 to 2023, 37 were assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.


The Speaker of the 7th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas announced this while presiding over valedictory session at the Assembly Complex on Friday.


Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas attributed the achievements recorded by the Assembly under his leadership to the support, cooperation and understanding among the legislators irrespective of party affiliation.


The Speaker who lauded the cordiality among the outgoing lawmakers which had resulted in developmental strides, enjoined the members-elect of the 8th to follow suit. 


He explained that the training and retraining as well as promotion of staff was accorded priority which aided in effective legislations, hence the successes recorded.


He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, colleague-lawmakers, political leaders, constituents, management and staff of the Assembly for their individual and collective contributions.


Several Lawmakers including the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo (Numan), ex-Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa(Yola South), Majority Leader, Hon. Japhet kefas (Gombi), Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno(Demsa), Hon. Bathiya Wesley (Hong), Hon. Hamidu Sajoh Lekki(Yola North), and Bauna Myandasa,(Lamurde) among others appreciated God for making it possible to represent their constituents in the last 4 years.


The Hon. Members who enumerated some of their achievements including sponsoring of bills, motions on matters of public importance, lobbying and facilitation of constituency projects among others, thanked Governor Fintiri as well as their constituents for the support.
