FAKE NIMC STAFF ARRESTED FOR ISSUING FAKE ID CARDS




Police in Adamawa State have arrested 400 level student of Plateau State University Bokkos, who specialises in forging and issuing fake National ID cards.


The 24 year old accused, Ajik Ishaq, who studies English and Literature at the university, was arrested at welcome to Yola, in Adamawa State on the 24th November, 2022.


Ajik, was apprehended while parading as well as adverstising the kind of services he renders to people as staff of the National Identity Management Commission(NIMC).


NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the fraudster had since defrauded about 28 unsuspecting citizens and realised the sum of N34, 000. only.


He confessed while being paraded along side 26 other suspects at the police headquaters in Yola that he only collects the sum of N1, 500, only per identity card.


He narrated that whenever he meets a Christian, he gives his name as Ajik, and that while with a Muslim, he identifies himself as Yusuf in order win trust.


He said that it was somebody who suspected him while advertising his services, saying that the man suspected him to be fake staff and called police who arrested him.


While parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, S.K Akande, vowed to ensure the prosecution of the suspects upon completion of investigation.

MOTHER OF 8 IN POLICE NET FOR AIDING HUSBAND IN KIDNAPPING




A 36 year old woman, Bilkisu and her husband Nafiu Yusuf, are currently cooling their heels in one of the cells of the Adamawa State Police Command over allegation of kidnapping.

 

Bilkisu and mother 8 of Sangere in Yola South LGA, was arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting crime, while her lovely husband was apprehended for abduction.


The accused and her husband, who were nabbed by the operatives of the command, were among the 27 suspects paraded by the  Commissoner of Police, S.K Akande, on Wednesday.


NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the woman was nabbed following the arrest of her husband in connection to crime who eventually led the operatives to his residence for a search.


She was accused of hiding an AK-47 riffle which her husband was using in perpetrating the alleged crime. 


Bilkisu, who denied the allegation, confessed that she sighted the weapon under their bed and decided to carry and keep it somewhere for fear of children.


According to her, she has neigther seen nor touched such a weapon, and that she saw it after her husband left for farm.


According to her, she hid the weapon for 3 days unknown to her that her husband had since been arrested, saying that her mistake was her failure to report the matter to police.


On his part, Nafiu, said he has never committed any crime with it, and that he was given the gun for onward delivery to somebody.

BREAKING: POLICE ARREST 909, RECOVER 70 GUNS, 68 HANDSETS IN ADAMAWA




Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 909 suspects, recovered 22 AK-47 as well as 48 locally fabricated riffles. NEWS PLATFORM can report.


According to the Command, out of 909 suspects apprehended, 845 have since been prosecuted.


It said that the suspects were nabbed in connection to armed robbery, kidnapping, culpable homicide, rape, other sexual offences among others.


It disclosed that the command recovered 22 AK-47 rifles, 15 motor vehicle/truck, 25 tricycles/motorcycles, 14 locally fabricated single barrel guns, 326 live ammunitions.


Others are; 19 locally made guns, 4 pump action, 12 bow and arrow, 4 torch light, stabilizer (5000w) binaton generator TIC yellow is colour.


Others include; 22 empty magazine, 7 cartridges, 27 cuttlasses/knives/other dangerous weapons, 68 handsets (17) air conditioner, hard drugs, human skulls, N4, 915million and several other items.


The Commissioner of Police, CP S.K. Akande, made this known while parading a total of 27 suspects arrested recently at the police headquaters on Wednesday. 


CP Akande, told newsmen that the exhibits were recovered by the men of the command from February to November, 2022 in and around the State. 


"Adamawa State Police Command sometimes in February, 2022 designed a security template to curb security challenges in the 21 Local Government Areas". He said.


He said that the effort is a collective responsibility displayed by officers and men of the command from January to date.


According to him, the operatives carried out tactical and intelligence-driven patrols, raided of criminal hideouts, rescue operations, stop and search operations, community policing, engagement of stakeholders among others.


He appreciated the government and the citizens for their support, assuring that the command will not relent in its effort in fighting crime.

FINTIRI SHOWERS PRAISES ON REVENUE BOARD FOR IMPROVING IGR




Impressed by its performance in improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has showered praises on the Revenue Board for enhancing revenue profile of the State.


Governor Fintiri, applauded the board under the Chairmanship of Alh. Hamman Adama Njabari, while presenting the 2023 budget proposal at the floor of the State House of Assembly last week.


He told the Assembly that his government had noticed an appreciable improvement in the monthly revenue generation, saying that the board has been rejuvenated/reformed, hence the remarkable achievements.


According to him, “IGR of Adamawa State has commendably improved in recent times, which had greatly contributed to the total revenue of the state, and that the board has been sustaining it.


He disclosed that the board had successfully implemented the statutory rate of fees and levies applicable by law to livestock revenue collections, implemented tax programs which reduce hardship on tax payers and offered online renewal of vehicle licenses. 


"All revenue titles were codified and aligned to the standard practice of International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS). This has further aided the revenue agency to block leakages as non performing revenues are investigated". Fintirti added.


He explained that the revenue laws have been reviewed and passed into law to address grey areas of revenue collections, insisting that this has paved way for an increased revenue generation.  


Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, said that the current situation where petroleum products contribute paltry amounts to the Federation Account indicates that only States that have improved their IGR can survive in the very near future.

HOW AUWAL TUKUR SCUTTLED ADHA SPEAKER's SENATORIAL TICKET

The Federal High Court I in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, nullified the primary election of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) which produced the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, as candidate for Central Senatorial District.


The election was invalidated on grounds that an aspirant, Auwal D. Tukur, who participated in the exercise did not resign his appointment as the Chairman Governing Council of the State University Mubi, before contesting.


Auwal Tukur's participation in the exercise without tendering his resignation letter brought about the nullification of the election which saw the emergence of Iya Abbas, as flagbearer.


Aside the nullification of the exercise, the court barred the party from fielding a candidate for the district in the 2023, general election since the entire excercise was voided.


The court's judgement scuttled the chance of Iya Abbas, who represents Uba/Gaya constituency at the State House of Assemnly from contesting in the 2023 polls to represent the district. 


The court presided by Justice A. M. Anka, nullified the election while delivering judgement in suit instituted by an aspirant, Ibrahim Mustapha (Baba10).


However, the judge declined to order for fresh primary election; instead, declared that anyone who is satisfied with the court's verdict has the right to appeal the decision.


NEWS PLATFORM was informed that the Speaker is considering appealing the decision in order to seek redress.


Ibrahim, sued the party, Iya Abbas, Auwal Tukur and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) where he asked the court to nullify the election which according to him was marred by irregularities.

 

He told the court that aside conconting or doctoring the list of delegates, Auwal Tukur as well as some delegates who participated in the exercise were goverment appointees in an outright violation of the electoral act.


Meanwhile, the court presided by Justice Anka, on Monday,  struck out a case filed by an aspirant, Mohammed Murtala Modibbo.


In his suit, Modibbo, had alleged that the speaker submitted falsified/fake documents to the PDP Screnning Committee and urged the court to declare the election conducted on the 23th May, 2022 null and void. 


Delivering judgement on the case, Anka, held that the suit cannot be resolved vide originating summons or base on assertion as contained therein in the affividat tendered.


Justice Anka, declared that the mode of commencement of the action via originating summons was wrong and cannot be sustained, insisting that the foundation is shady and shaky.

KUMUYI EMPOWERS 7, 000 FOR SPIRITUAL, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN ADAMAWA



Over 7, 000 teenagers and young adults in Adamawa state were on Saturday, empowered for spiritual as well as academic excellence by the Convener of the Impact Academy, Pastor. Dr. W. F. Kumuyi.


The teenagers and young adults were empowered during the event tagged, "Impact Academy" by Pastor Dr. Kumuyi, who is also the General Superitendent of the Deeper Life Bible Ministry.


The programme drew teenagers, students, corps members and young adults mostly from both public and private primary and Secondary Schools, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Universities among others in the state and across the world.


During the historic event, junior and senior youths as well as vocational and ex-students were equipped on removing barriers to all round excellence, little foxes that destroy all round excellence and sustaining power for all round excellence.


Likewise, staff, students, corpers and postgraduate were impacted on advancing in scholarship and excerptional service, breaking through barriers to holistic achievement and the creed for aspiring achievers.


The event also featured panel discussion which created ample opportunity for the participants at the Alpha Location in Yola, and online who asked and answered questions.


The panelists featured during the session at the Alpha Location include; Professor Lucky Uche, Modibbo Adama University, Dr. Elizabeth Adewuyi, Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola.


In his message, the Convener of the Impact Academy as well as Global Crusade, Pastor. Dr. W. F. Kumuyi, said that if anyone is going to run the race of life, he or she must look at the direction, insisting that he or she must concentrate and focus towards excellence.


Past. Kumuyi, took his reading from Deut 8:18; and 1 Chr 29:12-13, while speaking on the topic "Unique Great Privildge Empowered for Excellence".


"You have to define who you are, why you are here, why you are in school, what you want to take out of college and University. Let nobody or society defines you because it is what you stand for which defines you". Kumuyi said.


He told the gathering that a boy or a girl that is not pursuing anything will make no progress in life, adding that anyone who has a passion will get greater achievement and progress in life. 


Past. Kumuyi, assured them that they are the boys and girls of excellence, saying that no matter what has happened in the past, there is going to be a new beginning for them.


On her part, the Wife of the Convener, Esther Kumuyi, had while addressing them, said that it was so great to be a part of the November edition of Impact Academy. 


She told them that they are for signs and for wonders and prayed God to baptize them afresh with the spirit of excellence.

PRP GUBER CANDIDATE VOWS TO TAKE ADAMAWA TO NEXT LEVEL




The Governorship Candidate of the People's Redemption Party (PRP) in Adamawa state, Hon. Ibrahim Baba-Inna, says he is determined to take the state to the next level if voted into power come 2023.


The Governorship candidate disclosed this Saturday, during the party's state summit, which also saw the inauguration of its Governorship campaign council and membership drive initiative at party's Secretariat, in Yola. 


The Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, Mrs Rebecca Audu who was also in attendance, saw the unveiling of State Executives, LG Chairmen, Women Leaders(all LGs), Youth Leaders(All LGs) and Organizing Secretaries who promised to work in tandem for the victory of the party.


Also in attendance was the 3 Senatorial candidates, 7 House of Reps and 25 State House of Assembly candidates of the party 


He said that his campaign agenda which would soon be unveiled further disclosed  the party's determination to bring out the state out of the shackles backwardness and propelling it to prosperity devoid of insecurity and other critical elements which the world would soon discover.


He pleaded for maximum support from the party leaders and Adamawa state people to bring the state to its flourishing past.


The oath of office was also administered to the DG Campaign along side other critical portfolios during the occasion.

JUST IN: COURT DISMISSES SUIT AGAINST YAPAK, ADHA LEGISLATOR




Federal High Court in Adamawa State on Friday, dismissed a suit instituted challenging the election of Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak, member representing Verre constituency at the House of Assembly.


Hon. Justice A. M. Anka, who dismissed the suit while delivering judgement on Friday, held that the action is incompetent and dismissed it accordingly.


The legislator who is seeking re-election for third term was declared winner of the APC primary election conducted on the 27th May, 2022. at Karlahi GDSS. 


But dissatisfied with the election, Hon. Nathaniel Hammarabe Yakim and Hon. Geoffrey Bulus Domgete who also contested for the seat, instituted an action challenging the exercise.


The aspirants joined APC, Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak and the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) as 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants.


According to the plaintiffs, the exercise which was held at the Karlahi Government Day Secondary School on the 27th May, 2022 was marred by irregularities, and described it as invalid and unlawful.


The dou sought for an order of the court directing the party to withdraw certificate of return issued to Hon. Yapak, for him to contest for seat.


They prayed the court to issue an order restraining the party from forwarding Hon. Yapak's name to the electoral body as well as an order restraining him from parading himself as the candidate of the party.


Reacting on the judgement, the legislator described the verdict as a victory to democracy and to the entire constituency, and congratulated his constituents for the landslide victory.


Hon. Yapak, called on all the electorate in the constituency to rally round him in order to move the constituency forward, and specifically called on Hon. Nathaniel and Hon.Domgete to work together in the interest of Verre constituency.

The court presided by Hon. Justice A. M. Anka, voided APC primary election which saw the incumbent member representing the constituency emerging the winner.


Anka, declared that the delegates who voted during the exercise were fake in clear violation of the electoral act, saying that the electoral act was breached by APC.


Justice Anka declined to order for fresh primary election in the federal constituency, saying that the party shall not field a candidate in the 2023 general election.


He ordered the Hon. Jaafar, to stop parading himself as the candidate and ordered INEC to disregard his name as APC candidate.


The court delivered judgement in suit filed by Hon. Jandani and former Chairman Maiha Local Government Council, Jibrilla Mohammed (Ustaz) and 4 other aspirants who participated in the exercise.


During the exercise held at Yadzara Cinema on the 27th May, 2022, the plaintiffs, Jibrilla Mohammed and Amina Kabir Mala scored zero votes, while, Mahmood Sali Yunusa got 1, Abubakar Umar Jarengol, 5 and Abubakar Sadiq Mana 9.


The plaintiffs asked the court to nullify the exercise, saying Hon. Ja'afar was not validly elected having failed to comply with accredition as contained in the guidelines for the nomination of candidates.


They sought for an order directing INEC to disregard and ignore the name, details, particulars of Ja'afar, submitted by the APC , and that the party be directed to organise fresh primary election for the plaintiffs and the 2nd defendant.

APPEAL COURT REINSTATES BINANI AS APC GUBER CANDIDATE




The Court of Appeal Yola Division on Thursday, set aside the judgement of the Federal High Court which voided the election of the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aishatu Dahiru Binani.


However, the court has upheld the candidature of Senator Binani, and ordered the party to forward her name to the electoral body ahead of the 2023 general election.


The three member of the appellate court headed by Hon. Justice Tani Yusuf Hassan, set aside the lower court's verdict while delivering judgement on the appeal instituted by Binani.


In a unanimous decision, the court allowed her appeal as sought and consequently set aside the lower court's judgement delivered on the 14th October, 2022, by Hon.Justice A. M. Anka.


Likewise, the appellate court has struck out the appeal brought before it by the embattled APC governorship aspirant, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.


In his appeal, Ribadu, prayed the court to allow his appeal as well as order APC to conduct fresh governorship primary election to enable him participate.


But in its today's judgement, the court of appeal said it had heard the appeal challenging the trial court's decision and struck it out without any cost .


Similarly, the court of appeal has nullified the judgement of the trial court which barred the leading opposition party, APC from fielding a governorship candidate in the 2023 general election.

FAKE AIG, EFCC OFFICER DEFRAUDS MEN OF N10MILLION IN 42 YRS




A 61 year old fake Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Olakunle Adesola, has been apprehended for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting members of the public to the tone of N10million.


Olakunle, who was parading himself as AIG, EFCC Officer and Senior Legal Practitioner since 1980, succeeded in defrauding general public of the said amount of money.

 

The serial frauster was nabbed by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command following a series of petitions and reports at various formations/ units of the police command.


A release by DSP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer FCT Command for the Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday, said that the acussed was arrested on the 20th November, 2022 by The command’s intelligence asset.


The PPRO disclosed that the imposter who resides at Liberty Estate by spring road AMAC Abuja, was arrested by the operatives attached to the Anti-violence Crime section of the State Criminal investigations Department (SCID ).


According to her, the accused was arrested at Our Lady Queen of Cathedral Church Area III where scores of unsuspecting worshippers have reportedly been defrauded.


She added that the suspect’s modus operandi is to impersonate a CP or AIGP, top-ranking EFCC Officials, and/or a Legal Practitioner who owns a law firm by the name, Dr.Kunle Adesola & Associates and successfully defrauded many.


She said that during interviewed, the suspect confessed to had been perpetrating the criminal enterprise as far back as the year 1980, and that upon the arrest, several forged documents, unissued police gear, tear gases, and forged academic documents from various learning institutions were recovered in his possession.


The PPRO advised the general public to be wary of such unscrupulous elements who parade themselves in such manner as the above or any other in order to defraud them. 


APPEAL COURT DISMISSES SUIT AGAINST HON. DEPOLIS' FOR MICHIKA/MADAGALI




The Court of Appeal, sitting in Yola, Adamawa state has dismissed a suit challenging the election of Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada, for Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency.


Consequently, the court upheld the judgement of the Federal High Court II sitting in Yola, and dismissed the appeal instituted by an aspirant, Anna Sini, contending the election of Hon. Depolis.


Hon. Justice Tanko Saidu Hassan, who dismissed the appeal while delivering judgement on Tuesday, declared that the appeal lacked merit and ought to be dismissed.


NEWS PLATFORM recalled that the Federal High Court had while delivering its judgement on the matter, declined to nullify the primary election of the APC which produced Hon. Depolis as the candidate for Michika/Madagali constituency.


Hon. Justice S. I. Kogo, refused to grant all the reliffs sought by the female politician, saying that the exercise conducted by APC for Michika/Madagali, was in compliance with the provision of the law.


According to him, Hon. Depolis was duly screened and cleared by the Screening Committee of the party; hence, his participation in the exercise, saying that the exercise was free and fair.

ADHA MOVES TO MAKE FREE EDUCATION COMPULSORY FOR GOVT




Adamawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education on Tuesday, organised a public hearing on a bill for a law to provide compulsory free education for pupils in primary and secondary schools.


The public hearing was organised by the House Committee on Education, Tertiary and Professional Institutions headed by the Member representing Hong constituency, Hon. Bathiya Wesley.


The event drew Stakeholders from the Ministry of Education, Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Education Resource Center, Parent Teacher Association(PTA), Women in Education Network among others.


Stakeholders who participated in the public hearing furnished the committee with inputs on the proposed free education bill floated by Hon. Bathiya Wesley.


Speaking while declaring the event open, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, said that the issue of free education started during their 2018/2019 electioneering campaigns.


He stated that it was Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who came up with the policy and decided to implement it on his assumption of office, saying that many families are benefiting from the policy.


According to him, the Assembly wants to make it become a law so that the incoming governments will not play politics with it, explaining that the policy is in the interest of the entire state.


Earlier, in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Bathiya Wesley, said that the legislation was initiated primarily to provide free eduction for the indigenes.


Hon. Bathiya, informed them that the Assembly through the committee deemed it imperative to hold public hearing to collect expanded views/opinions, recommendations from critical stakeholders before enacting it.


According to him, basic education prepares pupils on how to succeed in their future education more especially whenever they get to higher institutions.


He said that the bill is framed in such a way that is going to address the issue of out of school children as well as feeding programme in all government schools.


Hon. Bathiya Wesley, applauded Governor Fintiri led administration for introducing the policy, saying that it has significantly improved the standard of education in the state.


Several stakeholders who spoke at the event include; Hon. Wulbina Jackson, Commissioner Ministry of Education, Salihu Ibrahim Ateequ, Executive Chairman ADSUBEB, Rodney Nathan, the Chairman NUT who was represented by his Vice, Abednego Haruna Dennis, and Lawan Abubakar Umar, Chairman PTA in the state among others.

GLOBAL CRUSADE WITH KUMUYI IS FOR EVERYBODY-ADAMAWA CAN




Ahead of the Global Crusade with the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor (Dr.) W. F. Kumuyi, the Leadership of the Christian Association in Nigeria (CAN) says that the scheduled event is for everybody.


The Global Crusade is scheduled to take place from the 24th to 29th November, 2022, at the Deeper Unity Camp Ground Kwanan Waya along Numan road.


It is against this backdrop that tens and thousands of christians cut across denominations in Adamawa and beyond are expected to attend the crusade with a theme" The Power That Never Fails".


During the 6 day world wide event, Pastor Kumuyi, who is the Convener of the Global Crusade, tagged, "Global Crusade with Kumuyi", will deliver messages which will be transmitted live from Alpha location to not only the 36 States of the Federation but across the nations of the world.


Likewise, during the crusade, the man of God, will hold a special conference with the Ministers, Church Workers and Professionals in order to empower them for breakthrough in their various ministries.


Interestingly, the messages will be transmitted via satellite, social media platforms and other electronic media to different locations across the globe where congregations and individuals connect in real-time.


Many people have experienced divine encounter, salvation, deliverance, healing from all sorts diseases/ailments, redemption since the annointed servant of God, started organising GCK.


It could be recalled that over a year now, Pastor Kumuyi has been organising such a monthly Global Crusades from different locations in Nigeria where his messages are physically transmitted live by 5:00pm daily.


It is in the light of the above that the Adamawa State Leadership of the Christian Association in Nigeria, felt that the State should not be left out, hence; its call on the Christian community to avail themselves with the rare opportunity for endless blessings and manisfetation of the power of God.

Bishop Dami Mamza who doubles as the Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, declared that it is now the turn of Adamawa as the GCK authority will arrive the state with the "The Power that Never Fails".


The CAN Chairman who was represented by his Vice, Rev. Philip Shehu, called on the general public, churches, church workers, pastors and founders to attend the 6-days GCK.


"The GCK is touching lives across the globe, delivering many lives from bondage of sin and sicknesses, empowering ministers for breakthrough, empowering youth and young professioners for excellence". He further declared.


On his part, the Chairman Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Adamawa State, Arch. Bishop(Dr.) Japhet Tonmoso, invited all christians to avail themselves with the opportunity to experience the touch of God in their lives.


Concurring other men of God, the Arch Bishop Anglican Diocese Jos/Yola, Ibrahim Markus Amfani, disclosed that they have been part and percel of the Kumuyi's progammes in the state, saying that this is not going to be his 1st time of coming to the state.


Arch Bishop Amfani, expressed hope that the much expected power of God will move in the state to heal the sick, transform lives and do the impossible.


According to him, with the power of God that never fails, they will see the power of God at work among them to raise godly leaders who will do the will or bidding of God at this critical time.


He noted that the miracles which took place in Minna, Niger and Ikorodu in Lagos States respectively among others will be experienced in Adamawa State, saying that he had watched the erstwhile President General Badamasi Babangida, calling on all the people to attend the Minna GCK.


He expressed optimism that the coming of Kumuyi will bring another turn around in the state as God will open heaven over their lives, Adamawa and the Nigeria as a whole.


For other Bishops, Pastors, Evangelists and other men of God, Bishop Amfani, explained that the event is not only for the Deeper Life Members as it for all of them, and that they are committed to see to the success of the event.


He revealed that the Convener of GCK is a father to them who had gone all over the world touching many lives, assuring that there is no limit as to how God uses him in reaching out to his people.


Bishop Markus Amfani, assured that the Anglican family and himself will participate in the global crusade, saying that christians irrespective of denominations are united.


Reacting on the news of the forthcoming event, the President Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria(LCCN) World Federation, Arch Bishop Musa Panti Filibus, thanked God for GCK.

Arch Bishop Panti, disclosed that he so much looks forward to the coming of world wide event, and pledged his support towards the success of the crusade.

NAMDAS LAUDS BUHARI'S WIFE FOR UNITING APC MEMBERS




Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas Governorship Campaign Organization, on Monday lauded the effort of the wife of the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari for taking a bold step towards uniting members of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa state ahead of the 2023 general elections.


The First Lady had on Friday held a crucial meeting with stakeholders, candidates, and elders of the party at the presidential villa to unite the party and ensure they win the 2023 elections at all levels. 


The Namdas campaign group which has been serving as a critical support group for the APC both within and outside the state met and applaud the vision of the First Lady and the desire to unite the party.


The group also reviewed its activities over the past few months as well as strategized on the possible ways of supporting and ensuring that candidates of the party at all levels get the desired results before, during, and after the election.


In a communique signed by the leader of the Namdas campaign group, Hon. Abdulrahaman Shuaibu, a former member of the House of Representatives, the group "appreciates unprecedented gesture by Her Excellency the First Lady Aisha Muhammadu Buhari for taking up the leadership and presiding  a meeting comprising the APC candidates, party leadership and critical stakeholders  on the way forward  for the party’s success in the forthcoming general elections  2023."

The APC in Adamawa state was recently plunged into crisis following the annulment of its governorship primary elections by a high court sitting in Yola, and the resignation of some members of its State Working Committee. 


The Namdas group however resolved to remain "neutral on the Governorship tussle pending the determination of the suit by the Yola division of the appeal court which has reserved the matter for judgment.

POLICE ARREST 52 YR OLD V/PRINCIPAL FOR RAPING A MINOR




The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 52 year old Vice Principal Government Girls Secondary School(GGSS) Senior Section Murke in Song LGA, Enock Kwaleji, for raping a 13 years old girl.


The suspect, Enock Kwaleji, was arrested on 20th Novemner, 2022 for allegedly raping the minor at Sangere Community in Jabbi Lamba,Girei LGA.


A release by the PPRO, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje and made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Tuesday, said that the suspect and  resident of Salama House Sangere Jabbi Lamba, in Girei LGA, lured the victim to an uncompleted building and forcefully had undue carnal knowledge of her on 15th November, 2022.


SP Nguroje, said that the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Jabbi Lamba by the victim's mother.


According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a Vice Principal at GGSS Senior Section, Murke in Song LGA. 


He said that the Commissioner of Police, SK Akande, who frowned at the irritable incident, directed Officer in charge of Family unit  to take over  investigation and ensure deligent prosecution..


He advised the public particularly parents to be watchful of their childrens especially the girl child against criminal minded elements who are roaming about seeking who to take advantage of.


He also assured the State Government and the general public of the command's unrelenting effort to see that it ends all forms of gender based violence  and promised immediate prosecution of any perpetrator found wanting.



    

BREAKING: MAN POSES AS LADY TO DUPE MEN IN ADAMAWA




Muhammed Auwal Abubakar aka Fadi

A middle age man and diploma holder from the Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, Muhammed Auwal Abubakar, was on Monday,  remanded in prison custody for dressing as lady in order to dupe men.


Muhammed who holds Diploma in Business Management Education, was remanded in prison custody by the Chief Magistrate Court Girei presided by Martina Gregory.


The defendant who gave his female name as Fadi, pleaded guilty after he was arraigned before the court by the Prosecutor, Inspector Wamkai Ngapuro.


Muhammed who hails from Tashan Sani in Yola South LGA, told the court that he is diploma holder, and that he dresses like a woman and follows ladies in order to exploit men of insatiable taste.


NEWS PLATFORM learnt that during their outings, the ladies usually give him between N500 to N1, 500 depending on the money they realise on that day from their victims.


It was further gathered that anytime gullible men wanted to take her (him) out, the ladies who go out together with her (him) will lie to them that she is experiencing her menstrual circle. 


He was apprehended on Saturday the 16th November, 2022 at Girei market while buying an erring where he was sighted by a man who suspected that he must be a male and not female.


The man was said to raised an alarm which led to the arrest of the defendant who eventually confessed to the offence during interrogation.


After the defendant's plea, the prosecutor, Inspector Wamkai, applied that he should be tried summarily under section 351 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law.


Having pleaded guilty to the offence which according to the prosecution contravened section 269 of the penal code law, 2018, the defendant was remanded in prison until 5th December, 2022.


He told NEWS PLATFORM that he usually spends the money he gets on food and soap, and that he applied for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force but could not get it.

ADAMAWA CP VOWS TO TRAIL, PUNISH ATTACKERS OF FINTIRI'S AIDE




Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, has vowed to trail as well as punish attackers of Muhammed B. Tukur Gcfr, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on New Media.

M. B. Tukur and his wife were attacked by yet to be identified persons at his residence in Yola.


The CP in statement by the PPRO, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available to NEWS PLATFORM, ordered the operatives of the command to fish out the perpetrators.

 

He said that the command will not fold its arms and allow criminals to have their way, and assured Fintiri and the citizens of the command's readiness to ensure the state is rid of criminals.


Akande, ordered operatives of the command drawn from the Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT) and other Tactical Squads to carryout a tactical and intelligence - driven 24/7 raid against hoodlums that are hell bent in distrupting peace.


He also directed the Divisional Police Officers to personally lead the night patrols in their respective Areas of Responsibility (AOR) to ensure total domination of the public space.


According to him, these deployments will surely assist in coordinating timely response to distress calls and to clamp down on those found committing crimes for the law to take its course.


The Police Boss said that this is clear manifestation of the command's determination to providing peaceful and conducive atmosphere in the State.

FEMALE PRAYER WARRIOR/NATIVE DOCTOR ARRESTED FOR CONNIVING WITH KIDNAPPERS




A 38 year old female prayer warrior who is also a native doctor, Ruth Keneth, has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Command for allegedly conniving with kidnappers.


Ruth and mother of 7, who resides along Numan road in Yola, Adamawa State, was accused of furnishing kidnappers with a phone number of a sick person brought to her from Bengo in Fufore LGA for prayers.


The woman who was paraded at the police headquaters in Yola on Friday, said that her business is praying and administering herbs to those who have spiritual problems.


The professed prayer warrior/native doctor landed herself in the soup few days after the sick person brought to her for prayers and his children were called by the suspects who demanded N10million ransom.


When the man was taken to her for healing by his children and son in-law, the woman informed them that it was revealed to her during prayers that the man's name was given to kidnappers.


She advised them to buy a ram of 2 years without barganing its prize and bring it to her for sacrifice for a solution to the man's problem.


She told them that after slaughtering the ram, she will pull one its horns, remove something from its heart and mix it with some herbs.


According to her, after completing concoction, she will go and bury the horn in the sick person's house at Bengo, and that no kidnapper or armed robber will attempt coming to his house.


She assured them that even if his enemies come to his house, they will not see him not to talk of abducting or harming him or his children.


Having heard the woman, the sick person, his children and son in-law told her that they will return back home and prepare for it as they were not having money at that time.


On returning back home, the woman kept calling the man where she informed him that she had since committed herself and started gathering some herbs and waiting for them.


Surprisingly, 4 days after they had returned back home in early November, 2022, a strange number called the sick man, his son in-law, and 2 of his children and demanded N10million ransom or abduct him or any of his children. 


The suspects informed them that the sick man, and his children went and consulted a native doctor, and that no native doctor can harm them except if she is a woman who uses demons.


NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the phone number which was used by the suspects was tracked by the operatives of the command which led to the arrest of the woman.


It was learnt that all the phone conversations between the suspects and the children as well as the son in-law of the man were recorded in the woman's phone.


Confirming the arrest to NEWS PLATFORM on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the operatives of the Command apprehended her and that investigation is ongoing.


SP Nguroje, said that the Commissioner of Police, S. K. Akande, had ordered Criminal Investigation Department to conduct discreet investigation into the matter as wall as ensure the prosecution of whoever that is found wanting.


He advised the general public to be very careful while carrying out their daily activities and report suspicious characters around them.

10 HUNTERS KILL MAN, SET CORPSE ABLAZE FOR IMPLICATING THEIR CHAIR





About 10 Special Hunters in Lamurde Local Government Area, Adamawa state have appeared in court for allegedly killing a man, setting the corpse ablaze as well as inciting public disturbance.


The affected hunters are facing trial before Hon. Justice Danladi Mohammed, led High Court on 4 count charges which they had denied it commission.


The hunters are; Abubakar Hamman, 48 (Chairman),  Musa Mohammed, 38, Ibrahim NEPA, 35, Musa Ibrahim, 21, Ibrahim Jibrilla, 40, Abdullahi Siniya, 31 and Yusuf Buba, 39.


Abubakar and 6 others were arraigned over alleged criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide punishable with death, contrary to section 191 and punishable under section 192(b) Perial Code Law.


While the remaining defendants including Usman Nabari(aka Usman Manaja) 45, Abdullahi Sabitu, 27, Aminu Yahaya, 25(at large) and Solomon Nabari, 25, were charged along side 7 other defendants for alleged criminal intimidation and inciting disturbance.


According to the prosecution, the alleged offences of the 4 defendants run contrary to section 382 and 80 of the Adamawa State Penal Code Law 2018 respectively.


The prosecution alleged that the Chairman of the special hunters in Lafiya Lamurde LGA, and 6 others caused the death of one Danlami Kaura on the 28th May, 2022.


NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the deceased, who was together with one Bashar Ahmed, was violently attacked by the hunters as a result of which he sustained grievious injury on his waist and head.


After the deceased was taken to Lamurde hospital for treatment, the defendants stormed the hospital and fired gun shots which made everybody including medical personnel to scamper for safety.


Thereafter, the defendants were said to have forcefully took Danlami from hospital bed to a nearby bush where they killed him and set his corpse ablaze.


It was learnt that while the family members and friends of the deceased were mourning, Abdullahi Sabitu, 3 other special hunters drove in a hilux van at the residence and fired gun shots.


The mourners took to their heels for safety which according to the prosecution, amounted to alleged criminal intimidation and inciting public disturbance. 


Meanwhile, a reliable source informed NEWS PLATFORM that the defendants murdered their victim for allegedly implicating their Chairman. 


He was said to have accused the chairman of receiving stolen property including a motorcycle which led to his arrest and detention by the police, and that the deceased's action did not go down well with the hunters, hence; their action.


During hearing, S. B. Digil (Senior State Counsel II) and L. M. Dodo (Senior State Counsel I) appeared for the prosecution, while M. P. Dangi appeared for all the defendants.


The matter was subsequently adjourned to the 29th November, 2022 for continuation of hearing.

70, 000 TO ATTEND KUMUYI'S GLOBAL CRUSADE IN ADAMAWA




Over 70,000 people from Adamawa state and environs are expected to attend a Global Crusade with Pastor(Dr.) W. F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church.


The event tagged Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) is slated for Thursday 24th to Tuesday 29th, November, 2022, at the Deeper Unity Camp Ground Kwanan Waya along Numan road.


The 6-day crusade with the theme,"The Power That Never Fails" is expected to be graced by over 70, 000 people cut across the state and environs.


The Chairman Local Organising Committee, Pastor(Prof) A. A Adebayo, disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the Deeper Life Bible Church headquaters on Thursday.


He stated that they targeted 70, 000 participants are those from Adamawa and environs not to talk of tens of thousands of people who view the GCK live in Nigeria and across the nations of the world.


"For over a year now, Pastor (Dr.) W. F. Kumuyi of the Deeper Christian Life Church has been organising a monthly Global Crusade from different locations in Nigeria, " Prof Adebayo, revealed.


According to him, these crusades are normally hosted at Alpha Locations (where the Convener ministers physically) and transmitted via satellite, social media platforms and on other electronic media to different locations across the globe where congregations and individuals connect in real-time.


He explained that the crusade which is organised for everybody will hold from 5pm daily, while the Church Ministers and Professional conference from 25 to 29 by 7.00am. 


He said that there will be a special youth summit codenamed "Impact Academy for Youths" and that it seeks to address issues that are critical to the wellbeing of the youths (teenagers, campus students. Corps members, young adults on Saturday by 7.00am


On the aspect of security, the Chairman assured that a robust security arrangements have been put in place, saying they have been working with all security agencies, and that they had assured them of full security coverage.


Elaborating on the Impact Academy for Youths summit, the Head of Media and Publicity, Pastor Abel Lakyam, pointed out that people need some level of comfort at this critical time.


Pastor Abel, added that the coming of the man of God is not just to preach for people to get saved, but he is coming with a word of comfort.


He observed that the political atmosphere is charged and that they need prayers to calm it down.

BREAKING: POLICE BEGIN SHOOTING EXERCISE, URGE PUBLIC NOT TO PANIC




The Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command will today,  commence shooting exercise.


The exercise will take place at the Counter Terrorism Unit base, Near Nas Radio station in Girei Local Government Area.


An announcement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, which was made available to NEWS PLATFORM, explained that the exercise will last for 3 days.


He asked members of the public especially those around the area not to panic when they hear sounds of gun shots.


It also asked farmers to keep off from the area for the period of the exercise.

MAN, 34 HANGS HIMSELF OVER N40, 000 IN ADAMAWA




A 34 year old man identified as Iliya Adamu, has committed suicide after he was accused of stealing the sum of N40,000 about 8 months ago.


Late Iliya of Kwanan Waya in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State was found hanging from a rope tied to a tree on Thursday, last week.


The deceased and a bricklayer who was working in Girei LGA, was accused by his brother of stealing the money in April, 2022.


NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the deceased terminated his own life after he kept complaining as well as denying the allegation levelled against him by his own brother.


Getting fade up with the wave of reproach and embarassement, the deceased went and ended his own life in a brutal manner in order to rest.


The lifeless body of the man was found dangling in the bush in Girei LGA after 2 days, which threw the community in a gloomy mood and confusion.


Sources said that a container of insecticide was found near the place where he hanged himself believing that he might have consumed it while embarking on a journey of no return.


The image maker of the State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying that the command is investigating it.

TRAGEDY: MAN HANGS HIMSELF OVER N40, 000 IN ADAMAWA



A 34 year old man identified as Iliya Adamu, has committed suicide after he was accused of stealing the sum of N40,000 about 8 months ago.


Late Iliya of Kwanan Waya in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State was found hanging from a rope tied to a tree on Thursday, last week.


The deceased and a bricklayer who was working in Girei LGA, was accused by his brother of stealing the money in April, 2022.


NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the deceased terminated his own life after he kept complaining as well as denying the allegation levelled against him by his own brother.


Getting fade up with the wave of reproach and embarassement, the deceased went and ended his own life in a brutal manner in order to rest.


The lifeless body of the man was found dangling in the bush in Girei LGA after 2 days, which threw the community in a gloomy mood and confusion.


Sources said that a container of insecticide was found near the place where he hanged himself believing that he might have consumed it while embarking on a journey of no return.

ADAMAWA ASSEMBLY DEP SPEAKER MOURNS FIBI NADAH




The Deputy Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo, has expressed sadness over the demise of the 1st Woman Commissioner, Chief. Mrs. Fibi Nancy Nadah.


Chief. Mrs.Nadah, the first woman Commissioner of Information in the defunct Gongola State passed on the 13th November, 2022.


Hon. Mackondo who represents Numan constituency at the Assemnly, described late Nadah as a good woman who dedicated and worked assiduously for the state.


The lawmaker in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, said that he received the news of the departure of one of Bwatiye's illustrious daughters with a rude shock.


He described her demise as great loss not only to her immediate family, his constituency, Numan Federation but the state in general, and however extended his condolences on his behalf and that of his constituency.


Hon. Mackondo, also consoled the entire Bwatiye Community, the Hama Bachama, Dr. Daniel Ismaila Shagah, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and prayed God to grant the departed soul eternal rest.



APPEAL COURT RESERVES JUDGEMENT IN SUITS BY RIBADU, BINANI, APC




The Yola Division of the Court of Appeal on Monday, reserved judgment in the appeals filed by the Nuhu Ribadu, Aishatu Binani and the All Progressives Congress(APC). 


The appeals were instituted by APC Governorship Aspirant, Nuhu Ribadu, winner of Governorship primary, Aishatu Binani and the leadership of the party in the state.


After hearing the appeals on Monday, the panel, led by Justice Tani Hassan Yusuf, said they would communicate the date for judgment to the parties.


In his appeal, Ribadu, is asking the court to allow his appeal as well as set aside the judgement of the Federal High delivered on the 14th October, 2022.


Ribadu, through hisd counsel, M. I. Dikko (SAN) asked the court to direct APC to conduct fresh primary election to enable him participate in the exercise ahead of 2023 general election.


Furthermore, he alleged that the lower court had erred in law having declined to order for fresh primary even after finding out that the primary election was replate with overvoting in clear violation of the party guidelines.


On her part, Sen. Binani, through her lead counsel, Chief Akim Olujinmi(SAN), prayed the to declare her as the authentic/lawful candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election. 


She asked the court allow her appeal, set aside the judgement of the trial court and uphold her as the winner of the primary election conducted on the 26th May, 2022.


Likewise, on its part, APC urged the court to dismiss the suit instituted by Ribadu and reinstate Binani, as its governorship candidate.

STEER CLEAR OF INEC FACILITIES, ADAMAWA CP WARNS THUGS




Adamawa State Police Command has warned political thugs to steer clear of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) facilities or face the full wrath of the Command.


Already, the Command has deployed its operational asset around the headquaters of the electoral body in the state, and ordered a total clamp down on violators.


The Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, in a release by the spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the deployment is to checkmate criminal activities around the area.


According to the Command, the deployment is to ensure surveillance to curtail criminal activities as a further manifestation of the IGP's determination to providing conducive atmosphere for political process in the state.


"This deployments will surely assist in monitoring INEC materials, prevent any attempt to invade INEC premises, coordinate timely response to distress call and to clamp down on violators". Nguroje explained.


SP Nguroje, stated that the CP also directed the Divisional Police Officers and their Supervisory Area Commanders to immediately ensure strategic deployment of officers at INEC offices at  their respective Areas of Responsibility (AOR), 


The CP further re-emphasized the firm determination of the command in ensuring safety of lives and property in the fight against crime and criminalty while seeking full cooperation from members of the public on intelligence gathering and vigilance.

FACILITATOR OF "SHILA" ACTIVITIES JAILED 8 YRS WITHOUT OPTION OF FINE




Upper Area Court 4 in Yola, Adamawa state has awarded 8 years prison term to a youngman, Aliyu Abubakar, a facilitator of "shila" activities. NEWS PLATFORM can report.


Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ulenda, presiding judge of the court awarded 7 and 1 year old jail terms to the convict for theft and being in possession of indian hemp respectively.


The convict and resident of Damilu ward in Yola North Local Government Area, was onvicted and sentenced after he was tried and found quilty for the offences.


Aliyu, a commercial tricycle operator was said to be the one facilitating the movement of "shila" boys who attack and snatch unsuspecting citizens of their handsets and other valuables.


According to the prosecutor, Inspector Coleman Micheal, the convict conspired with 2 others now at large and stole 3 sheeps and snatched a handset.


He told the court that the convict and 2 suspects (now at large) were pursued by the mob, but that the 2 accused managed and escaped.


He narrated that the convict could not escape because he was the one riding the tricycle conveying them.


He said that all the 3 domestic animals and handset were recovered after the convict was trailed and apprehended.


Having arraigned before the court, the convict pleaded guilty after which he was convicted and sentenced accordingly.


POLICE ARREST BANK FRAUDSTER WITH 10 ATM CARDS




Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 32 year old man, Joseph Nwakibe, accused of fraudulent activities with 10 different ATM cards.


The police command in a release by its image maker, SP Suleiman Yahaya, said that the operatives had apprehended the man while on surveillance on the 8th November, 2022.


SP Nguroje, disclosed that Joseph, an indigene of Nnewi South LGA, Anambra and resides in Markudi, Benue state was apprehended at the first bank ATM stand in Yola.


According to the command, Joseph was invited to Yola by his friend, Obinna Ajima (now at large) for joint fraudulent activities.


SP Nguroje added that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects go about with several expired ATM cards of various banks pretending to be customers.


He said that they usually queue behind customers and offer to assist anyone they perceive is having difficulties in making transactions.


He stated that in the process they take note of the person's ATM pin number and smartly swap the card with the fake one in their possession.


The release conveyed the commendation of the Commissioner of Police, SK Akande, to operatives who apprehended such criminal minded element, and directed that effort be intensified to arrest the other suspect who is currently at large.


Furthermore, the CP appealed to the general public to be careful and refuse any assistance from while making bank transactions at ATM point, and advised them to call on the attention of the bank security men should they need any help.
