Adamawa Police Command Inaugurates VCRU to Curb Emerging Security Threats

  The Adamawa State Police Command on Friday, inaugurated Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) saddled with the responsibility of curtailing emerging security threats. The unit was formed and inaugurated to curtail kidnapping, shila gangsterism, terrorism, armed robbery, cult-related offences among others. Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the conversion of the Specialist Hospital Yola to Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital. It could be recalled that a joint security operation conducted in Mubi and environs led to the arrest of 73 suspects for various offences. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, made this known in a release made available to News Platform on Saturday. Court Remands 2 for Strangling 14-Yr Old Boy to Death in Adamawa

  The Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola, Adamawa State, has remanded 2 in prison custody for allegedly strangling a 14 years old boy, Nyalli Muktari to death. The defendants, Safiyanu Mohammed, 22, and Muhammed Bello, 20, of Shelleng LGA, were remanded at the correctional centre by the Chief Magistrate court presided by Bello Ismail. The duo were remanded at the correctional centre for the offences of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, theft and culpable homicide contrary to sections 60, 248, 276 and 191 of the penal code law of Adamawa state. Senator Ishaku Abbo Quits ADC for Labour Party

Former lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the 9th Assembly, Senator Ishaku Abbo, has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress. In a statement issued via his Facebook page on Sunday, Abbo, who leads the SIA Movement, attributed his decision to the leadership crisis within the party at both the national and state levels, saying conflicting court rulings had created uncertainty. He cited a Federal High Court judgment that voided the party’s state congresses, as well as a Supreme Court ruling that returned the leadership dispute to the Federal High Court for determination. Abbo said he has joined the Labour Party, alongside his supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
