Adamawa CAN Condemns Persistent Attacks on Communities

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa State Chapter, has strongly condemned senseless acts of violence against innocent citizens in Madagali, Hong and Gombi LGAs. Suspected Chobo militia fighters have killed at least 11 people and razed scores of buildings in coordinated attacks on Kwah and Gyakan communities in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Residents told newsmen that the violence began in the early hours of Thursday when armed men stormed Gyakan between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. before advancing to Kwah, about 20 kilometres away. According to a local source, Hindi Livinus, who spoke from one of the affected villages, the attackers, riding on motorbikes and armed with AK-47 rifles and machetes, unleashed what he described as an unprovoked assault on defenceless residents. “The attackers came in large numbers, shooting and burning houses.
