Breaking: Court Sends Gambo Nakura to Prison for Insulting Ribadu, Alisha Buhari, Others
The Chief Magistrate Court II sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has remanded the Chairman Concern Citizens Adamawa State, Alh. Husseini Bello Gambo Nakura in prison custody over multiple offences. News Platform
The court presided by Magistrate M. A. Adamu, remanded the defendant in prison custody and adjourned the case to the 17th September, 2025 for commencement of hearing.
Magistrate Adamu ordered the remand of Nakura when he was arraigned before him over multiple allegations slammed against him by the Adamawa State Police Command.
Alh. Gambo Nakura was arraigned before the court for the offences of defamation of character, use of insulting and abusive language, disturbance of public peace and inciting disturbance contrary to sections 378, 379, 385 and 80 of the penal code law.
Arraigning the defendant, Counsel to the prosecution, Ezekiel Jidauna Esq, informed the court that the police command had received letter of complaint dated 8th September, 2025 from Barr. N. I. El-Yakub Esq, on behalf of the complainants.
He told the court that the 53 years defendant granted an interview to an online Tv in Hausa Language where he made an inciting, unguarded utterances thereby defaming the character of some prominent personalities in the state.
The personalities according to the prosecution include the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Wife of the former President, Aisha Buhari, Dr. Modi Halilu, Barr. Comrade Mustapha Salihu, National Vice Chairman APC Northeast Zone.
He added that the utterances are capable of destroying their the political future, causing chaos, breaching public peace, denting their political party, alleging that the defendant had also called them thieves.
The prosecution told the court that the defendant accused the aforementioned personalities of hijacking fertiliser and farm inputs sent to Adamawa State for distribution to farmers and distributing expired food items to the citizens.
He further infomed the court that the defendant had told an online Tv that the former APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Aishatu Binani, won governorship election but the personalities used their positions and hijacked the process and denied her victory.
When the content of the First Information Report was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to all the offences.
Consequently, Counsel to the prosecution, Ezekiel Jidauna Esq, applied that the matter be adjourned to enable him assemble witnesses for the commencement of hearing.
On his part, Counsel to the defendant, E. O. Odo Esq, applied for the bail of the defendant, saying that the offences are bailable in nature under the 1999 Constitution as amended.
Odo told the court that his application for bail was brought pursuant to section 36 (5) of the Constitution and section 163 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2018.
Ruling on the bail application,, Magistrate M. A. Adamu, admitted the defendant to bail, and that his surety must be the Chairman of Yola North LGC.
The defendant who failed to produce his surety to fufil the bail condition was later remanded at Yolde Pate Correctional Centre.
