TWO ADAMAWA VIGILANTES TURN KIDNAPPERS SHOT MAN DEAD

Two local Vigilantes, Abdulrahaman Alhaji Yakubu and Suleiman Lawan of Murke in Song Local Government Area, Adamawa state who turned kidnappers have been arrested for allegedly killing a man in village near Gombedeked along Dumne road in Song LGA.

Abdulrahaman who is 30 years old and father of 5 and Suleiman who is 35 years old and has 10 children, are currently being investigated by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), police headquarters, Yola,  in connection to the crime.

The suspected kidnappers and 3 others now at large were said to have stormed the village on the 5th August, 2021, in the night for random kidnapping during which they invaded the residence of the victim and abducted his son.

But while the kidnappers were dragging the boy out of the house so as to take him into the bush for ransom, his elder brother confronted them and in the process one of the suspects, Suleiman fired a gun shot, but could not touch him.

When the elder brother of the boy resisted an attempt by the suspects to take his younger brother away, another member of the gang opened another fire on him, but he also escaped.

It was further learnt that the father of the boy who was coming out of his room, was hit on the stomach by the stray bullet as a result of which he died on the spot.

But when the neighbours heard gunshots, they came out from their houses and pursued the suspects; thereby, rescuing the boy.

The following morning, other local vigilantes followed the foot steps of the suspects right from the scene of the crime to their various houses where they apprehended them.

When contact for confirmation, the Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, told NEWS PLATFORM that the suspects are in police custody, and that they are being investigated after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.
