HOUSE COMMITTEE APPEALS FOR CONCERTED EFFORT TO CURB INSECURITY



The failure of security agencies to effectively curtail the security threats besetting some parts of Adamawa state was the major concern of stakeholders in security sector at the inauguration of the House Standing Committee on Security and Boarder Integration of the state assembly.

The stakeholders noted with dismay how the security challenges ranging from armed banditry, farmers/herdsmen clashes, shila boys and kidnapping have continued to cause sleepless night amongst the hapless citizens in some parts of the state.

It was against this backdrop that the newly inaugurated House Committee on Security called for a concerted effort so as to stem the tide of the challenges bedeviling the some communities in the state.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration of his committee on Security by the Speaker of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, the Chairman of the committee and Member representing Michika Constituency, Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada(Depolis), told the stakeholders that security is everybody's business and that all hands must be on deck to address it.

Hon. Ayuba Kwada, who is the Chief Whip of the Assembly declared that his committee intends to work harmoniously with ministry, departments and agencies and all relevant stakeholders in the state to provide a lasting peace within the state.

He pledged the readiness of the committee to carry out their duties diligently for the progress of the state, saying the committee will be up and doing in its oversight function with a view to protecting lives and property of the citizens.

He further tasked the MDAs to be committed to their responsibilities as custodians of public trust so that their collective responsibilities of delivering a peaceful Adamawa will be achieved.

Speaking while inaugurating the committee, the speaker of the house,Rt.Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, charged the committee to do everything possible within its powers towards proffering solution o insecurity threats.

Rt. Hon. Abbas, urged the committee to synergize with the MDAs under it and other stakeholders to address the challenges.
