POLICE NAB 4 FOR KIDNAPPING, RECOVER GUNS, THREAT LETTERS IN ADAMAWA


 
Police in Adamawa state have arrested about 4 suspected kidnappers alleged to have been terrorising the inhabitants of Hong Local Government Area in the state.

The police have recovered 3 single barrel guns, threat letters, N86,000 cash, GSM mobile phones and sim cards among others from the suspects.

The suspects were apprehended in connection to kidnapping, threat and extortion on the 9th April, 2021 and the 11th April, 2021 respectively.

A statement by the spokesman of the command, DSP, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available to newsmen in Yola on Wednesday, said that the suspects were nabbed following complaints from some residents. 

According to him, the operatives of the command attached to Gombi Division, received Complaints from residents of Wuro Garba and Lugga villages in Hong LGA, that they had received separate letters threatening them to pay a million each or risk being kidnapped. 

DSP Nguroje added that investigation led to the arrest of a 30 year old Adoneja Dauda, resident of Hubbare village in Maiha LGA as a prime suspect that sent letters aimed at extorting money from innocent citizens.

He said that prior to his arrest, the suspect extorted the sum of 150,000 from one Alhaji Dauda Hassan, a resident of Barkaji Village, Hong LGA, after threatening to kidnap his victim.

According to him, the police have also recorded another breakthrough by apprehending Musa Saidu, 26, Manu Hussein, 25 and Hammadu Bello, 22, residents of Garwayel village in Hong LGA over alleged kidnapping.

He disclosed that sometimes in March, 2021, the aforementioned suspects abducted one Alhaji Yahaya Buba, Alhaji Sure and Alhaji Muhammed Bello all of Konto village in Gombi LGA.

He further informed newsmen that the accused are being investigated after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.

It is in the light of the foregoing that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Adamu Alhaji commended officers and men of Gombi Division for reclaiming the public space and making it difficult for criminals to go scot free.

Meanwhile, as part of efforts at tackling criminal activities and other related offences, the CP is striving hard to deepen intelligence  and strengthen security in the state.
