There is palpable anxiety and apprehension among hundreds of electorate in 4 Constituencies of the Adamawa State House of Assembly as the Court of Appeal Abuja Division is set to deliver judgement in 4 appeals filed before it.
The appellate court on Wednesday, conducted hearing in 4 appeals filed before it by the Three (3) incumbent members of the House of Assembly and a candidate of the PDP in the 18th March, 2023 general poll.
After hearing, the appeal court reserved judgement in the appeals, and said that the dates for judgement will be communicated to the parties involved.
The appeals were filed before the court by Hon. Sunday Peter against Hon. Adwawa Donglok for Guyuk constituency and Hon. Ibrahim Musa Italiya against Hon. Mahmud Kallamu for Mayo Belwa constituency respectively.
Others include: Hon. Mohammed Babangida Jidda against Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi for Nasarawo Binyeri constituency and Hon. Ishaka Yusuf (aka Dangote) verses Hon. Paul Samuel for Mubi North constituency respectively.
Hon. Peter, Italiya and Jidda who represent Guyuk, Mayo Belwa and Nasarawo Binyeri constituencies filed separate appeals challenging the decision of the National/State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal.
The tribunal recently invalidated the election of Hon. Sunday Peter of APC at Zabi Sonka polling unit ( Code 004) of Purokayo ward and Mararaba polling unit 007 of Kola ward respectively where elections were cancelled due to over voting.
Likewise, the tribunal had while delivering separate judgements in petitions filed by Hon. Mahmud Kallamu and Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi both of PDP, nullified the elections conducted at 5 polling units in the 2 constituencies.
The tribunal declared the poll held at Chokkol Joda, Wuro Aminu and Wuro Mana 1 units in Mayo Belwa constituency inconclusive, saying that the exercise was conducted not in compliance with the electoral act.
It also declared that the 18th March, 2023 elections conducted at Bura Manga unit in Nasarawo Jereng Ward and Sitim Koleni unit in Gangfada ward in Nasarawo Binyeri constituency inconclusive.
The 3 APC lawmakers, who had their elections voided by the tribunal, approached the appellate court and prayed it among others to set aside the decision of the tribunal.
On his part, the Candidate of the PDP for Mubi North constituency, Hon. Ishaka Yusuf (aka Dangote) whose petition was dismissed by the tribunal, asked the appellate court to nullify the judgement of the tribunal.
While delivering judgement in the petition on the 25th September, 2023, the tribunal threw out Hon. Dangote petition against Hon. Samuel Paul who won election under APC platform.
NEWS PLATFORM gathered that there is anxiety and apprehension amidst high expectations of judgment amongst the family members, party faithfuls and teeming supporters of all the parties involved.
According to sources, some of the family members, well wishers as well as the supporters of appellants and respondents have since resorted to prayers for divine intervention considering the fact that the court is their last bus stop for legal battle.
