Vadlya Breaks Record, Becomes 1st Physiology, Storage Tech Prof at MAU, Northern Nig



The Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola in Adamawa State has celebrated Vadlya T. Tame, for breaking record to become 1st Post Harvest Physiology and Storage Technology Professor at the university as well as in Northern Nigeria.


The Registrar of the institution, Mallam Usman Mustphar Migawa, had while congratulating Professor Vadlya, said that the entire university is of proud of him.


Migawa, disclosed that the newly promoted Professor, who is the Head of Department of Crop Production has put the name of the school in the limelight globally. 


According to him, MAU has proven that it has what it takes to produce world class resource persons that can help in galvanizing the economy through various fields.


He noted that the feat achieved by the Department of Crop and Horticulture Production will help bring about sustainability as well as boost the economic power of the farmers, the state and the country.

  

He urged the first ever specialist in post- harvest physiology and storage not to rest on his oars but strive and explore new grounds and also train students in the same field.


Fielding questions from newsmen, Professor Vadlya T. Tame, said " This not just me but the for the entire university community and the society".


He expressed optimism that the wastage being experienced by farmers will be reduced, assuring that with his expertise, he hopes to make impact in Adamawa state and Nigeria at large".


" You will agree with me that we lose a lot as a result of lack of post harvest storage technology "We hope to build on it to improve the storage of our farm produce, which will also help in improving our economy ". He added.


He promised to avail himself to any student(s) willing to study about the new challenging career in crop management, and urged schools to encourage academic research to enable students break new grounds. 


Prof. Tame who had his 1st, 2nd and his PhD from Federal University of Technology (FUTY) and now Moddibo Adama University ( MAU), thanked his amamata for giving him the opportunity to serve and care for research which led to this achievement.
