GOMBI AT STAND STILL AS HON. KEFAS DISBURSES 2ND PHASE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT



Gombi Local Government Area in Adamawa on Tuesday, stood still when the Member representing Gombi constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon. Japhet Kefas, embarked upon 2nd phase of his empowerment programme.


The Lawmaker's 2020 Empowerment Programme held Gombi town to a standstill as beneficiaries trooped out in their large numbers to collect cash as earmarked by the Honourable Member towards their empowerment.


Hundreds of beneficiaries, supporters as well as well wishers who besieged the hall of the Nigeria Union of Employees(NULGE) at the headquarters of Gombi LGA, were given financial support to enable them establish themselves, their families and various communities.


Beneficiaries who were sighted chanting "Japhet Kefas POS", "Second Tenure Guaranteed" overwhelmed everywhere, and however appreciated the Member,  pleaded with him to go for second term, so as to enable him continue to provide them with more dividends of democracy.


Some of the beneficiaries who could not hide their feelings, described the event as historic, saying that no Legislator has ever distributed cash to his electorate as part of effort towards making them become self reliant in the society.


The PDP Legislator had on Thursday last week, commenced the disbursement of #15million financial support to 1500 constituents across 10 political wards which comprise Gombi constituency.


During the empowerment programme held at the Secretariat of Lala Development Area, covered 313 electorate across Ga'anda, Gabun, Boga Dingai, Yang and Duwa political wards, remaining Gombi North, South, Garkida, Tawa and Guyaku political wards. 


Earlier, Hon. Kefas, had while addressing beneficiaries, supporters and well wishers at Government Day Secondary Gombi on Tuesday, told the gathering that he designed his empowerment programme to reach out to his electorate: women, youths, elderly persons, Groups, NURTW, Tricyclists, Hunters Association among others.


Hon. Kefas, promised to continue to promote the living standard of his electorate, and assured them that every resources given to him, will be channeled  to his teeming electorate, and appreciated them for their support.


While at the office of the NURTW and Tricycle Association in Gombi, the Legislator gave them cash and called on them to support Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration, saying that the government of the day is striving hard so as to reduce poverty to the barest minimum.


In her remarks, the Head of Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation (PAWECA), Haijya Aisha Bawa Bello, commended Hon. Kefas, for empowering his electorate, and urged the beneficiaries to use the resources given to them for their progress.


Hajiya Aisha, expressed hope that the resources will go along in reducing poverty at the grassroots and wished the Honourable Member success in his representation.


In his remarks, the Vice Chairman Gombi LGC, Hon. Umaru Yahaya, expressed satisfaction with the stewardship of the Member, and pledged to work towards ensuring his return for second term.


Also, speaking PDP Chairman Gombi LGA, Hon. Hamman Barau, said that it is very difficult to have a leader that will always be in contact with his electorate, calling on them to support him in the interest of Gombi LGA.
