ADAMAWA: DINGLE CLAN RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLINGS- DEMSA COMMUNITY

The Wanela(Wagoan) Clan of Maya community in Demsa Local Government Area, Adamawa State has claimed that the killings of its people were orchestrated by Dingle Clan of Maya community.

The community has exonerated its sons illustrious sons from launching attacks, explaining that it was Dingle Clan of Maya community that is responsible for killings.

The Dingle community has recently accused the former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) P. I. Leha, and erstwhile Permanent Secretary, Kenedy B. Dauda, of Wanela clan of sponsoring attacks.

Addressing newsmen at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Wednesday, the Spokesman of Wanela (Wagoan) clan of Maya, Micheal Kpebile, said that their people are law abiding and do not take laws into their own hands.

Micheal stated that the intolerance is as a result of an attempt by the Dingle Clan to disposes them of their ancestral farmlands which resulted to the attack and killing of innocent people by the Dingel Clan.

According to him, Wanela clan has not known peace since 2019,  till date, due to the mischievous acts of the Dingle people and the authorities supporting them.

He disclosed that their ancestors lived with several communities without any record of violence against anybody, saying that Dingle people who settled in some parts of Yola South LGA, migrated back to Maya Community and met a peaceful settlement predominantly inhabited by the Wanela Clan and settled with them.

He pointed out one Timothy Dafa (aka Bamanga), a dismissed police officer from Yobe State who is of Dingle Clan, stirred trouble waters over ownership of land belonging to the Wanela Clan.

The spokesman added that the sacked officer started mobilizing his kinsmen to clear farmlands belonging to them preparatory to the farming season in 2018, a situation which culminated into litigation before the Maya Area Court Bali, and that the judgment was in favour of the Wanela Clan.

"Aggrieved by the above decision, the Dingle people stopped our women and children from fetching water from the stream the community shared over time because it is on the side of the Dingle Clan. The matter was reported to the Village Head and District Heads without any action". Micheal alleged.

He alleged that while at the reconcialiatory meeting at the palace of District Head sometimes in 2019, their representatives were stabbed with knife, machete, naimed and nearly lost their lives in the hands of the Dingle youth who mobilized to the palace fully armed under the watchful eyes of the royal father.

While appealing for calm, Micheal, called on the authorities concerned to as a matter of necessity launch a thorough investigation into the allegation leveled against their people more especially the former DIG, P. I. Leha, and erstwhile Permanent Secretary, Kenedy B. Dauda, of Wanela clan.
