Fintiri's Defection Reinforces APC, Says President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, said that the defection of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reinforced the party. President Tinubu stated this while receiving Governor Fintiri to APC following his recent defection to the party from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Governor Fintiri was formerly received into the party at a grand reception held for Fintiri held at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, Adamawa state on Monday. Speaking while receiving the Governor along side his supporters, President Tinubu who was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, declared that Fintiri is now the leader of APC in the state. He disclosed that his defection has reinforced the party ahead of the 2027 general elections and expressed hope that the party will win the election at levels. Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, confirmed 3 commissioner nominees as requsted by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. News Platform  The nominees include Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Eng. Muhammed Suleiman ( Mubi North LGA), Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA). The nominees were screened and subsequently confirmed following their appearance before the plenary session presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. In a significant political development in Adamawa State, Dr. Victor Sunday Kwambuge, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). Dr. Kwambuge confirmed his new political alignment after registering earlier today in Madzi Ward, Michika Local Government Area.  His move follows the recent defection of his Principal, Sen. Amos Yohana, who also left the PDP for the APC after engaging with constituents in Mubi Local Government Area. He stated that the decision reflects a shared vision for stronger leadership, purposeful representation, and greater development opportunities for the people. The President of Emnamu Foundation, at the 2026 Annual Convention of the LCCN, donated N200 million. This was a cash offering accompanied with other commitments, in form of pledges of 200 employment opportunities for pastors’ children or dependants, and 200 scholarships for pastors’ children or other  dependants who have admission for full degree programs in Nigerian universities. The Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Amos K. Yohanna, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Senator Amos said his decision to quit PDP becomes necessary considering internal crisis which has continued to rock the political party. He said that he had resigned his membership after a meaningful consultation with his constituents, saying, " Today, I have officially resigned from my position as a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)". He added that in the process of deliberation, his constituents demonstrated strong unity and consensus, expressing their agreement to stand firmly behind in at the critical moment.  "Over time, the persistent internal crisis, unresolved conflicts, and lack of cohesion within the party have made it increasingly difficult for me to effectively contribute meaningfully to the growth and stability of the party", he stated. Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday, received 3 names of commissioner nominees for screening and subsequent confirmation. News Platform  The nominees include Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Eng. Muhammed Suleiman ( Mubi North LGA), Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA). The assembly also received the name of Iliya Gaji (Mubi North LGA) for screening and confirmation as member Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission. The list of the nominees is contained in separate letters forwarded to the assembly by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and read at the assembly by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley. The Speaker directed the clerk to inform the nominees to appear along side their curriculum vitae before the assembly on Monthly, 9th March, 2026 for screening.

Court Strikes Out Suit Challenging the Creation of Fufore Emirate

A Yola High Court in Adamawa State presided by Justice Musa Usman, on Tuesday, struck out a suit challenging the creation of Fufore Emirate. News Platform  Justice Usman, struck out the suit for failure of the plaintiffs to prove that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Adamawa State House of Assembly had failed to take necessary action before creating Fufore emirate. He declared that the plaintiffs had failed to file or serve the defendants with pre-action notice of one month before their action, insisting that there was no evidence to show that they have filed or served the defendants with the notice. The judge further declared in his judgement that the plaintiffs lack locus standi to institute the suit, stating that the plaintiffs dragged the defendants to court in their capacity and not as representatives of Fulbe in Adamawa Emirate.
