COURT SENTENCES 2 "SHILA" BOYS TO 10 YRS IN PRISON EACH





An Upper Area Court 4 sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, convicted and sentenced 2 "Shila" boys to 10 years in prison each. 


The court sentenced Madu Ibrahim and Husseini Abbas, to 7 years inprisonment without option of fine after they were found guilty for extortion.


Likewise, the court presided by Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ulenda, sentenced the convicts to 3 years in prison with N30, 000 option of fine each for criminal conspiracy.


Hon. Ibrahim, said having heard the plea of the convicts during arraignment and the oral application filed by the prosecutor, the court was left with no option than to grant it.


According to him, the court is not unmindful of the spate of occurences of the deadly and dastardly attacks by the criminal elements which has made the general public to fear.


Madu and Husseini, were arraigned on the 7th July, 2022 by the prosecutor, Seargent Kabiru Abubakar, on 2 counts of which they pleaded guilty.


The duo and 6 others (now at large) who had dressed like the students of the Capital Government Day Secondary School Yola, attacked 2 of their unsuspecting victims with a knife and extorted them of their mobile phones.


NEWS PLATFORM reported that the convicts who attacked Margret Peter and Alhassan Yunusa on the 6th July, 2022, made away with 2 of their mobile phones valued N68, 000.


They were apprehended and arraigned before the court by Sgt Kabiru Abubakar, for the offences contrary to sections 60 and 282 of the penal code law.
