ADAMAWA POLICE INTERCEPT, DETAIN 21 CAMEROON BOUND SUSPECTS FROM ZAMFARA




Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 21 suspects who are mostly youngmen believed to be on their way to Cameroon Republic from Zamfara State.


Those arrested include; Bilyaminu Abubakar, 24, Salisu Abubakar, 40, Murtala Alhaji, 26, Zainu Abubakar, 25, Lawali Abubakar, 20, Hassan Abu, 22, Ishaka Umar, 33, Abubakar Liman, 35, Musa Aliwali, 26, and Lawal Mohammed, 20.


Others are; Abubakar Umar, 27, Lawali Modi, 23, Rabiu Salisu, 26, Haruna Adamu, 20, Umar Mohammed, 25, Kabiru Mamman, 20, Bashiru Sani, 20, Naziru Abubakar, 21, Mudasiru Abubakar, 19, Yushawu Lawali, 25 and Ibrahim Lawali, 22.


Confirming the arrest exclusively to NEWS PLATFORM on Wednesday, the Image Maker of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the Command in collaboration with Muchalla community members in Mubi North LGA apprehended the suspects.


Nguroje, added that the arrest followed public outcry by the inhabitants of the community having sighted youngmen in large number travelling all the way from Zamfara to Cameroon Republic.


According to him, the suspects were nabbed considering the security situation in Zamfara State, saying that all the suspects are in police custody undergoing investigation.


He explained that upon the arrest of the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, S. K. Akande, directed for their transfer from Mubi to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Yola, being the highest investigative body of the Command for clinical investigation.


"As I am talking to you now, 21 suspects are in our custody undergoing investigation. The Command is doing everything possible to gather both human and material evidence to substantiate allegations levelled against them",  he added.


SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed that in the event they are found wanting, the Command will ensure that they are prosecuted accordingly, saying that if they are found to be innocent, the Command will refer them to appropriate authority.
