A 40 years old man and father of 20, who was accused of raping a 12 years old girl has told Adamawa State Police Command that his victim (names withheld) did not cry during sexual intercourse.
The suspect, Muhammed Umar, who hails from Gusupan in Toungo Local Government Area, said he did not force his victim before having carnal knowledge of her.
Muhammed made the confession while being interrogated by the spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, in Yola on Friday.
He narrated thus: "She met me in my shop and said she wanted to buy sugar. While we were interacting, she requested for the sum of N2,000 to refund her step-mother. I dashed her N1,000, and subsequently agreed to offer her body to me".
"After we finished arrangement, she went to where we perpetrated the act by herself without anybody forcing her. I later followed her to the place and had sex", Muhammed further narrated.
He said, "she did not complaint not to talk of crying during sex. She enticed me for more than 3 times, but this time around, I couldn't resist the temptation. It was God, who brought it to me".
The suspect who had married 4 wives and divorced 2, said he is willing to take his victim as wife if her father agrees, and regretted his action while attributing the crime to a mistake.
On her part, the 12 year girl had while fielding questions from the spokesman of the Command, accused the suspect of raping her.
She said her father sent her on errand of that fateful day to buy sugar, saying that while at the shop, the suspect sent her to carry kettle for him in the house.
"I went and didn't see the kettle, but while I was returning back, he stopped me and dragged me into a nearby room and raped me without my consent",said victim.
"He held me by the neck and threatened to slaughter me if I dare open my mouth. He told me that last year, he had an issue with my father and yet to come to terms with him", she narrated.
The suspect, according to the SP Nguroje, was apprehended by the operatives of the Command on the 11th October, 2023 following a complaint from the father of the victim.
He explained that the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, had ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to ensure discrete investigation and the prosecution of the suspect if found guilty.
