18 YR OLD MAN PLEADS GUILTY FOR ARMED ROBBERY IN ADAMAWA



An 18 year old Usman Mohammed of Ngurore ward in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa has pleaded guilty for armed robbery.


Usman Mohammed was charged before Honourable Aliyu Bawuro led Chief Magistrate Court I Admin in Yola, the Adamawa state capital on the offence of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery contrary to sections 60 and 287 of penal code law of the state 2018.


The suspect and 3 others now at large were alleged to have invaded the residence of one Ebuka Odu of Sabon Gari in Mayo Belwa LGA on 14th September, 2020 and robbed him of valuable property.


According to First Information Report, the 18 year old accused and 3 others stormed the residence of the victim with weapons and threatened to kill him by putting a knife on his throat.


The suspect told the court that when all their effort to get money from Ebuka was fruitless, they carted away with 2 Techno GSM mobile phones valued at #47,000, 1 Nokia phone, #10,000, MPR 3 radio, #5000, Standing fan, #6500, 1 cooler, #3000 and his cutlass, #2000. 


According to him, on their way back home after their operation, they were sighted by vigilante who were on patrol, and that the vigilante pursued and arrested him, but others escaped with their weapons.


Some of the items recovered from the 18 year old include standing fan and cooler.


But when the charge sheet was read and explained to him when he was arraigned before the court on Friday last week, the suspect pleaded guilty for the offence.


Thereafter, the court presided over by Honourable Aliyu Bawuro, ordered that the suspect be remanded at the Yola correctional facility while they await advice from the Ministry of Justice, and adjourned the matter to 30th November, 2020 for further mention.
