A middle age man, Adamu Abdullahi who was arrested in connection with alleged invasion and looting of a warehouse belonging to Nigeria Custom Service in Yola, Adamawa state on Thursday pleaded guilty for theft and trespass.
The suspect and resident of Wauru Jabbe in Yola South Local Government Area admitted in court that he was among several other Endsars looters who invaded and carted away bags of Maize, Guinea Corn, fertilizer and other valuable property at the warehouse along Numan road in Jimeta/Yola on the 25th October, 2020.
He said that on his part, he succeeded in stealing one bag of Maize which he later sold at the cost of #1000, and said that he had committed the offence as charged by the prosecution.
The suspect and 8 others who were arraigned before Chief Magistrate II by the Operatives of the Department of Security Service (DSS) in Adamawa state, pleaded guilty for alleged offences ranging from theft, destruction of public properties, trespass, breaking open receptacle among others.
The suspects include; Babangida Usman, Auwal Ya'u, Musa Yusuf, Adamu Yahaya, Umar Usman, Abubakar Danladi, Abdullahi Usman and Adamu Abdullahi are residents of Wauru Jabbe, Waliwol in Yola South.
Some of them told the court that they had already returned the properties they stole at the warehouse to the Ward Head of Wauru Jabbe in Yola South LGA.
Thereafter, the prosecution counsel, M. A. Adamu, told the court that since all the defendants pleaded guilty to the commission of the offences, their cases should be adjourned to enable them (prosecution) ascertain whether or not the stolen properties were given to the Ward Head.
Presiding over the cases, Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani, adjourned the cases to 11th November, 2020, and ordered that the suspects be remanded at Yola Correctional Facility till then.
In the same vein, about 7 suspected endsars looters who invaded NECAS and Red Cross warehouses in Yola and made away with valuable properties have been charged to court.
All the suspects who were arraigned before the court under direct criminal complaint, pleaded not guilty to all the offences.
