BUDGET: ADHA SPEAKER URGES FINTIRI TO CONSIDER PRY SCH TEACHERS

 


Adamawa state House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas has made a passionate appeal on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to address the plight of primary school teachers.


The Speaker pleaded with the Governor to look at the status of teachers in public primary schools with a view to addressing them in order boost their morale for effective performance.

Specifically, he urged on Fintiri to look at the teachers' salaries, promotions, upgrading with a view to implementing them, so that the state would have a sound background for the pupils of Adamawa.

Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas made the appeal while responding on the whooping #140.3 billion proposed budget estimates for the year 2021 presented by Governor Fintiri on Monday.

He stressed the need to look into the plight of the teachers considering the huge amount of money being expended on education sector.

On the proposed budget estimates, he disclosed that he had looked through the proposed capital expenditure and realised that 35% out 52% of the proposed expenditure is targeted at youth and other citizens of Adamawa.

According to him, the funds would be expended societal reorientation, economic empowerment, growing of private sector, enhancement of skills, saying these are what the state need at the moment.
