A retired former Acting Registrar of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, Yahya Hammanyaji Jada is to face an Investigative Panel over allegations of issuance of fake employment letters.
The Panel has been constituted by the College Governing Council to investigate alleged employment racketeering in the institution involving about 1000 ‘paying applicants’.
The panel is expected to conclude its assignment and submit its report within two (2) weeks with effect from 31st March, 2022.
NEWS PLATFORM learnt that the decision to set up the panel followed the refusal of the Acting Registrar to honour an invitation by council to appear in person to give detailed explanation bordering on allegation of issuance and documentation of about 1000 unapproved employment letters.
Likewise, the Governing Board is concerned over refusal of the Registrar to hand over all documents related to the controversial employment and his alleged continued issuance of additional 60 backdated employment letters few weeks before his retirement, even in the presence of a substantive College Registrar.
It was reported that the Registrar who refused to appear before the council on health grown, had admitted issuing and carrying out documentation of unapproved and fake employment letters to unsuspecting members of the public during his tenure.
Yahya Jada who earlier told newsmen that the employment saga was a “mere allegation” however confirmed the allegation in a signed report he had forwarded to the council saying, “Along the line, my signature was forged and appointment letters were issued and documented with ID Cards issued.”
He equally confirmed the allegation that monies exchanged hands during the employment racketeering by a syndicate of staff within the institution believed to be closed to him, saying “ the Department of State Security Service (DSS) in Adamawa State had investigated the matter and submitted a report on the matter.”
He was said to have deliberately refused to disclose the exact number of persons he had issued employment letters and documented with genuine staff identity cards signed by him without clearance from the Head of Service of the Federation.
According to media rerports, Yahya Jada had refused to hand over documents pertaining to the employment scandal to the College authority even after retirement on 24th March, 2022 and allegedly continued to secretly issue about 60 backdated employment letters to unsuspecting individuals.
He said “My concern has always been to conclude this exercise before my retirement because the exercise witnessed some forgeries, and I didn’t want to leave such without clearing such cases, however, this has not happened. Now that I have retired, I would hand over the documents as soon as I came back with the hope that those taking over will do justice to the exercise.”
But the Council after considering the report submitted by the retired former acting Registrar, directed that he should properly handover all documents related to the employment exercise as well as a comprehensive handover report of his stewardship to the substantive Registrar with immediate effect and unfailingly appear before the investigative panel with maximum cooperation.
