BREAKING: FCE YOLA MTG STIFLES GOVERNING COUNCIL ON FAKE EMPLOYMENT INVESTIGATION

Caught in the middle of employment scam, the Management of the Federal College of Education Yola, Adamawa State, has dared the College Governing Council by taking deliberate moves to frustrate its decision to investigate the saga, NEWS PLATFORM can report.

The institution is at the center of a recruitment scandal exposed by two online newspaper reports recently.

NEWS PLATFORM and PR Nigeria reports revealed the alleged offer of over 1000 fake employment letters to ‘paying’ members of the public by the institution between November 2020 to early 2022.

The Management of the institution is also accused of documentation and issuance of staff identification cards to the 1000 persons issued employment letters, without a Federal Government waiver and in total violation of due employment procedures.

Following the revelation by the online publication, the College Governing Council at its last meeting on 31st March, 2022, directed the constitution of an investigative committee with fact findings mission bordering on the alleged fake employment and documentation.

In an apparent move to frustrate the investigation and in what could also be described as “being a judge of your own case” the College Acting Provost, Mr. Johnson B. Malgwa constituted a 4-man    investigative Committee comprising members of the College Core Management, some of whom are fingered to be part of employment racketeering syndicate as members.

The NEWS PLATFORM further gathered that, the Establishment Secretary, whose office is accused of the documentation of the fake employment offers was made the Secretary of the fact finding committee.

The appointment letter seen by our report reveals the membership of the Committee as follows: Aisha M, Kadiri- (Deputy Provost) as Chairman, Maryam B. Ribadu (College Librarian)- Member, Ahmed Mohammed (College Bursar)-Member, Aishatu Mormoni (Establishment Secretary) – Secretary.

Investigation further reveals that the Committee which was mandated to submit report before the 6th March, 2022 is yet to hold a single meeting up to the time of filling in this report.

The Chairman of the Committee has not responded to questions forwarded to her on why the Committee has not been able to carry out the directives of the College Governing Board.

The Acting Provost, Mr. Johnson B. Malgwa when contacted was not ready to also confirm or deny whether the Committee had concluded findings and submitted report.
