ADHA Seeks Immediate Repairs of Collapsed Jada-Kojoli Bridge
Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, urged the State Government through the Ministry of Works and Energy Development to reconstruct Jada-Kojoli Mini Bridge (Arch Culvert).
The lawmakers appealed to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration to as a matter of urgency fix the bridge in order to ease the hardship being faced by commuters.
The resolution followed the matter of urgent public importance sponsored by the Deputy Speaker of the assembly, Hon. Muhammad Buba Jijiwa.
Hon. Jijiwa who represents Jada/Mbulo constituency at the assembly, prayed his colleagues to impress on the state government through the Ministry of Works to intervene by reconstructing the bridge.
He informed the assembly that the bridge had collapsed as a result of heavy downpour in his constituency, saying his electorate are currently suffering due the collapsed of the bridge.
According to him, the bridge connects Jada, the headquarters of the LGA and Kojoli as well as several surrounding communities, saying that the collapsed of the bridge has affected economic activities.
The Deputy Speaker, lamented that the deplorable state of the road which serves as major economic backbone of Jada LGA is serious setback, pointing out that over 50 trucks ply the road to transport farm produce to various markets.
He disclosed that the intervention is beyond the financial capacity of the LGC, stating that the broken Arch culvert will lead to decline in economic status and standard of living of the area.
The lawmaker however expressed confidence that the "Fresh Air" Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri with his passion for improving the quality of life for citizens will address the situation.
In their contributions some of the legislators noted that the emergency measures will ease the suffering of commuters while urging the state government to urgently intervene considering the economic importance of the road.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley commended legislators for their commitment to improving the lives of their constituents through people-oriented legislation.
He urged the state ministry of works and energy development among other relevant authorities to as matter of urgency take necessary action by providing emergency alternative.
