For allegedly defiling a minor, a 19 year old man, Sabitu Abdulkarim, of Ngulire ward in Maiha Local Government Area, Adamawa state has been remanded in Yola Prison in connection with the offence.
Sabitu was earlier arraigned before Honourable Aliyu Bawuro led Magistrate Court I Admin in Yola for allegedly defiling the little girl in Maiha LGA contrary to section 211of penal code law.
The accused was charged to court by way of First Information Report, alleging that the suspect defiled the little girl (names withheld) around 7:30 pm on the 8th January, 2021.
He was said to have defiled the girl as a result of which she sustained injuries.
But when the substance of the offence was read and interpreted to the young man, he pleaded not guilty to the said offence.
During cross examination, the accused informed the court that the girl saw him when he was coming out of bathroom and nothing else.
It was at this juncture that the Prosecutor, Sergeant Sawe Nicholas, prayed the court to adjourn the matter to enable the police seek legal advice from the Ministry of Justice.
The presiding Judge, Honourable Aliyu Bawuro adjourned the case to 18th February, 2021 for further mention, and ordered that the suspects be remanded in prison custody till then.
