4 MEN REMANDED FOR ASSAULTING A WOMAN ACCUSED OF KILLING A CHILD IN DEMSA LGA


Yola Chief Magistrate Court I Admin in Adamawa state has remanded 4 men over alleged assaulting and burning the house of a 50 year old woman, Veronica Zamani of Gwamba village in Demsa Local Government Area.


The affected men were ordered to be remanded at Yola Correctional Service facility by Honourable Aliyu Bawuro led Magistrate court over alleged assaulting and burning the house of Veronica accused bewitching a grand child of one Elimina Sunday.


The suspects including Jilison Tangha, 45, Sambo Sunday, 40, Livinus Edward, 29 and Nicolas Sunday,24 were arraigned before the court on the allegations of criminal conspiracy, injurious falsehood, criminal trespass, criminal force, assault and mischief by fire contrary to sections 60, 379, 333, 240, 241 and 318 of the state penal code law.


According to prosecution, the accused persons along side others now at large conspired and criminally trespass into the house of the woman sometimes in October last year and assaulted her as well as setting her house ablaze. 


Veronica who was alleged to have caused the death of the child was later taken to Dumne Shrine in Song LGA by one Bigjima Sunday and his wife, Jime Bigjima to prove her innocence.


 But when the content of the First Information Report was read and interpreted to the accused persons upon their arraignment in court, all of the suspects pleaded not guilty to the offence as charged.


Thereafter, the Prosecutor, Sergeant Sawe Nicolas informed the court since all the defendants have pleaded not guilty to the offence, the matter be adjourned to the 27th January, 2021 to enable them assemble their witnesses to prove the their case them.


The court presided over Honourable Aliyu Bawuro ordered that the men be remanded at the Correction Service facility and adjourned the matter to 27th January, 2021 for hearing.
