Those joined as 1st to 5th defendants and remanded in a Yola prison custody in connection to the alleged offence include; Harrison Yohanna,40, Kanisin Edwin, 40, Haruna Maze, 37, Nicholas Lawrence, Hannatu Hakinga, 25, and Abigail Yerima at large.
Some of the items carted away by the defendants include; 5 bedroom carpets, 5 bedsheets, 15 pillow case, 16 cotton linings valued at #410,000, contrary to sections 60 and 276 of the state penal code law.
The Chief Magistrate Court I Admin Yola presided by Aliyu Bawuro issued the order when the lady and 4 other defendants and staff of the hotel were arraigned before the court over the allegation.
While 4 of the defendants denied committing the offence, the 1st defendant, Harrison Yohanna, pleaded guilty and said that "it is good to tell the truth".
Harrison informed the court that the 2nd defendant , Kanisin Edwin, gave him 4 carpets and blankets and asked him to sell it for them, explaining that he sold them at the sum of #30,000 and that he was given #7000 out of it.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sergeant Nicholas Sawe, told the court that the matter is still under investigation and prayed the court to adjourn the matter to enable them assemble their witnesses to prove their case.
On his part, Counsel to the 2nd defendant, E. N. urged the court to grant bail to his client on most liberal terms, assuring that his client will not jump bail and that he will appear in court until the determination of the case.
Ruling on the matter, Magistrate Aliyu Bawuro, refused the bail application of the 2nd defendant, and ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody until then and further adjourned the case to 15th March, 2021 for hearing.
