Following an embarrassing defeat of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the All Progressives Congress(APC) at the just concluded councillorship election in Lamurde Ward, Lamurde Local Government Area, Adamawa state, the Youth in the area have apologised to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for loosing the seat to APC.
However, the Youth have told the Governor to blame PDP Stakeholders and those he entrusted with positions in his government for disconnecting themselves from their electorate, saying that the attitude of the Stakeholders gave ample chance to APC; hence the defeat of the ruling party.
It is against this backdrop that the Youth have called for immediate constitution of a committee to unravel the circumstances behind the action of the stakeholders in disconnecting themselves from the electorate.
The Youth who made the apology during a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre on Monday, attributed the loss to internal wrangling among the major stakeholders in the area, stating that if the Stakeholders have put their house in order, they would not have suffered such a defeat.
Addressing the press on behalf of the Youth, the Spokespersons, Kurdiyale Makanto and Danladi John, said that it has become necessary for them as Youth who form bloc vote to apologise to the Governor for the defeat.
According to them, PDP was in full control of Lamurde but the attitude of the Stakeholders has frustrated the chances of the party, adding that even the monthly PDP stakeholders meeting has not been conducted in the LGA even as directed by the Governor.
They commended Governor Fintiri for allocating some developmental projects to the area particularly the cottage hospital and other Social amenities.
