ADAMAWA LG ELECTION TRIBUNAL BEGINS SITTINGS, RECEIVES 9 PETITONS




Adamawa State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal has commenced sittings on 9 petitions filed by candidates contending the outcome of April LGCs polls.


The petitions were filed before the tribunal by councillors who participated in the just concluded elections.


The tribunal was inaugurated by the Adamawa State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Nathan Musa, on the 11th April, 2022 after the conclusion of the LG polls on the 9th April, 2022.


Speaking during the inaugural sitting in Yola on Thursday, the Chairman of tribunal, Hon. Aliyu Bello Isa, said that the tribunal was inaugurated to deliver justice to all parties.


Hon. Bello Isa, appreciated the CJ for finding them worthy for the herculean task, appealing for the cooperation of the candidates and their political parties, counsels, electoral body, staff of the tribunal, security and the media for a successful exercise.


Fielding questions from NEWS PLATFORM, the Secretary of the Tribunal, Ishaya Ambrose Pusigberi, said that the tribunal started receiving petitions after the announcement of the results of the polls.


He explained that it has cemmenced proceedings without hitches, and that so far, it has recieved 9 petitions, and started entertaining 3.


Pusigberi, added that the bailiffs of the tribunal are still serving some of the parties, and that the tribunal is going to perform its duties with an open mind in order to deliver justice, and appreciated the CJ for the trust.


Some of the cases mentioned so far include; Bitrus Daniel(APC) verses Emmanuel Bitrus(PDP) Tilli ward, Michika LGA, Abubakar Muktar (PDP) verses Mustapha Bashir(APC) and Mohammed Bobbo (APC) verses Suleiman Abubakar Goni(PDP) of Toungo and Bako wards of Yola South LGA respectively.
