Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday, passed a bill for a law to provide for the appointment and deposition of Chiefs in Adamawa State. News Platform
The passage of the bill followed a motion to that effect by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Ahmed Jingi Belel (Maiha) and seconded by Hon. Kantomon Naftali Bulus, representing Shelleng constituency.
The lawmakers passed the bill after considering and adopting the report of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs headed by Hon. Calvin Kefas (Toungo).
The bill was initiated to provide for the appointment and deposition of chiefs and matters incidental thereto.
In his comment during the consideration of the report, the Member representing Numan Constituency, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo, hailed the bill, saying that their constituents are in support of its passage.
After the 3rd reading of the bill, the Speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, who presided the sitting, directed the Clerk to prepare a clean copy for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's assent.
