7-Man Syndicate Arrested for Tricycle, Motorcycle Theft in Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 7- man syndicate who specialise in stealing as well as selling of stolen tricycles and motorcycles in Yola metropolis.
The arrest followed a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation which also led to the recovery of two stolen tricycles and one motorcycles.
This is contained in a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje and made available to News Platform in Yola.
He explained that the operatives of the Command, attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID) acted upon credible information and apprehended one Mohammed Alhaji, 25 years old, of Hulere Ward, Yola North LGA on the 24th June, 2025.
According to him, during interrogation, the suspect confessed being part of a syndicate that specialise in the theft of tricycles and motorcycles in Yola.
Nguroje said that the accused had disclosed that one Jafar Babangida, 19 years old, also of the same address stole two TVS tricycles (Keke-Napep ) from different locations in Yola.
"The duo conspired and sold one of the stolen tricycles to Ziyau Garba, 38 years old, of Sangere , and 2nd one to Bawuro Ibrahim, 37 years old, of Vinikilang, who in turn sold it to one Sahabi Mohammed, 35 years old, of Vinikilang Ward all of Girei LGA.
"The same Jafar Babangida sometimes stole a Jincheng motorcycle, dismantled it, and conspired with Lukman Usman, 15 years old, of Hulere Ward, to sell the motorcycle parts to Auwal Musa, 30 years old, of Nyakore Ward, Yola North LGA.
"All suspects have been arrested and have voluntarily confessed to their involvement in the organized crimes", He stated.
He said that investigation is ongoing for further recovery and possible arrest of more suspects
He said "The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the operatives for their swift response and urged the general public to continue supporting the Police with timely and useful information that will aid in the fight against crime in the state".
