Adamawa Police Nab Man who Displayed Gun on Social Media

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 32 years old man, Anas Dauda, in possession of Ak-47 rifle. The suspect who hails from Jalingo B area, Lamorde Ward, Mubi South Local Government Area, was nabbed for unlawful possession of a firearm. This is contained in a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje and made available to newsmen in Yola. He said, "The arrest followed a video circulating on social media showing the suspect displaying an AK-47 rifle loaded with three magazines making disturbing and threatening comments. "He claimed that he will sell or lease the weapon for a certain amount of money. The video, which caused panic amongst residents, was promptly brought to the attention of the Command". 1,243 Infected with Hiv in 6 Months in Adamawa-ADSACA

The Adamawa State Agency for the Control of AIDS (ADSACA) has raised concern over the increasing number of deaths and new infections of HIV in the state.  According to the agency, about 400 deaths were recorded last year, while 1,243 new infections were reported between January and June 2025. The agency said the situation is particularly worrisome considering that the demographics of those infected are mostly within the ages of 14 to 35, which is a productive population.  This was made known during a media engagement with media practitioners in the state on HIV response recently. The Director of Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation at ADSACA, Abdullahi Adamu disclosed that the agency recorded over 2,700 new infections in 2022, more than 2,500 in 2023, 2,227 in 2024, and 1,423 between January and June 2025. ICPC Realises N1.86billion from 2024 Asset Disposal

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has achieved a major milestone in its asset disposal operations, realizing a total of N1,868,969,400.00 from the auction of 23 forfeited assets in 2024. According to the Commission, this is the highest amount realised since the Commission’s establishment. This achievement was announced during the 2025 meeting of the Asset Disposal Committee, following a report presented by the Proceeds of Crime Department (POCD).  The exercise was carried out in line with the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act (POCA) 2022, which empowers the Commission to recover, manage, and dispose of assets derived from illicit activities. According to the report, out of the 23 assets disposed of in 2024, 10 were successfully auctioned in December 2024, while seven could not be sold due to low bids that fell below the approved threshold or forced-sale value.  The remaining six assets were affected by legal, security,...

ADHA Debunks Reports on N100million Devt Projects Fund

The Chairman of the Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Information, Hon, Musa Mahmud Kallamu has refuted circulating social media reports alleging that each member received N100 million Developmental Projects from the 2025 approved budget from Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. Hon. Kallamu made this known in an telephone interview with state Assembly correspondents' Tuesday describing the report as baseless.  According to him, the claims are entirely false and misleading, adding that, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri approved funds strictly for community development projects across the state's 25 constituencies.  Hon. ICPC to Prosecute Journalist over Alleged N14million Fraud

  The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to prosecute Alkazim Kabir, also known as ‘Abbati Kabiru Abuwa’, a self-acclaimed journalist based in Kano, over alleged involvement in multiple fraudulent activities amounting to about N14 million. The decision to charge Mr. Kabir followed a series of petitions received by the Commission, accusing him of persistent acts of fraud, false representation, and impersonation of public officials. Investigations by ICPC revealed that the suspect had allegedly impersonated various public figures, including aides to the President and Vice President, as well as members of the National Assembly, to defraud unsuspecting individuals. In one instance, he reportedly obtained $3,300 and 1,620 Saudi Riyals from two victims under the guise of being a Presidential and Vice-Presidential aide. Adamawa Police, Centre Collaborate to Curb Illicit Arms Flow

Poised to tackle the threat and circulation of illegal arms in Adamawa State, the Police Command has pledged to collaborate with the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) in the fight against the proliferation of illicit arms and light weapons. The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Command by the Coordinator NCCSALW North-East Zone, Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd). Receiving the delegation, the Police Boss reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to work closely with the centre to rid the State of illegal firearms and ensure public safety.
