Police Nab 2 for Transnational Drug Smuggling in Adamawa
In its ongoing fight against drug trafficking and trans-border crimes, the Adamawa State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects in possession of 197 sachets of tramadol.
This is contained in a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available to newsmen in Yola, Adamawa state.
The suspects arrested include Muhammad Mustapha, 32 years of Dorayi, Kano State and Muhammad Sanusi, 48 years, of Garoua, Cameroon Republic.
He explained that the suspects were intercepted by operatives of the Border Patrol Fufore Unit, during an operation.
He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the illicit substances were transported from a South-Eastern state and were being conveyed through Adamawa State with the intention of smuggling them into the Republic of Cameroon before they were intercepted.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwambo, commended the personnel of the Border Patrol Unit for their vigilance and professionalism.
He directed the Command, CP's Monitoring Unit to take over the case for deligent investigation and further neccessary action.
He said that the command remains resolute in its commitment to ridding the state of drug-related and illicit crimes.
