Fintiri's Defection will Add Value to APC, Attract More Dev-ADHA Lawmaker
As reactions continue to trail the defection of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, the Member representing Guyuk Constituency at the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sunday Peter, says the defection will add value to APC as well as attract more developmental projects.
Rt. Hon. Sunday Peter, who stated this while reacting on the defection of the Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, PDP structure as well as resignation of 15 members of House of Assembly, described Fintiri's decision as a welcome development.
He stated that he is not surprised with the defection looking at the history of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, since he delved into politics.
He described political party as a vehicle which conveys someone to a particular destination, saying that Fintiri had made his position known that his decision to align with APC is not based on his personal interest or political ambition but bring more dividends of democracy.
According to him, as a legislator who has been working with the Governor for over 2 years, he has seen what it means for a leader to be progressives, saying that Governor had recorded a remarkable achievements in critical sectors across the state.
He said, "I believe his decision to join APC will attract more development for Adamawa state. When you look at the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, it gives more powers to the states and LGAs.
"Governor Fintiri is one of the Governors who had received several awards of excellence in terms of performance from late President Muhammadu Buhari and President Tinubu in spite of their differences in political parties. When President Tinubu visited Adamawa state recently, he commended our Governor for his performance. So having him in our party is a welcome development.
" He is not coming as a burden but as somebody who had achieved excellence in governance. He is coming to help the party form government in the state and at the national level. He will add value to APC looking at his performance as Governor.
"His Excellency is not coming to the party alone; he has legislators, commissioners, advisers, councillors among others. This is to show you that he is a leader. When a good leader speaks, people follow because they know where he will take them", he added.
He assured that they will continue to give him more support so as to enable him provide more dividends of democracy to the citizens.
