Just In: Adamawa Assembly Lawmaker Dumps PDP



The Member representing Girei Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi has resigned his membership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). News Platform 


The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley announced the resignation of Rt. Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi in a letter he had forwarded to the assembly, and read by Speaker during Monday plenary.


Reacting on the resignation, the Majority Leader of the assembly, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, said that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is clear about resignation of defection of elected members of the assembly.


Hon. Kate Mamuno said that leaving a party which brought someone to power is an issue of concern, but there is nothing one can do if there are internal crisis in the party, saying there be no option than to resign membership.


She said that the member has done the right thing because there are lot of issues in the PDP, saying that at the moment, they have 2 national chairmen and secretaries as a result of the crisis.
