ADHA PASSES N39.2BILLION SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET



Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed the whooping N39.261 supplementary budget for the services of the state. NEWS PLATFORM 


The passage of the 2023 supplementary budget followed its consideration by the assembly presided by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley on Thursday.


The assembly dissolved to a Committee of Supply and considered the bill after its 1st and 2nd reading sponsored by the Majority Leader, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa) and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Suleiman Alkali (Yola North).


Speaking while considering the bill, the Majority Leader, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa) briefed the assembly on the economic situation of the country, and urged the assembly to okay it for the services of the state.


In his contribution during the debate, the former Speaker and member representing Yola South constituency, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa, observed with concern the debilitating effect of the economy.


Rt. Hon. Mijinyawa said when the former administration was preparing the 2023 budget, there was nothing like the removal of the fuel subsidy, saying that the economic situation of the country was not as harsh as today.


Lending his voice, the member representing Guyuk constituency and former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Sunday Peter, noted that the bill is timely and that the assembly should not waste time in considering it.


Hon. Sunday Peter added the Governor and his team have done a very good job looking at the situation of the country, saying," I am in total support of the bill in order to foster the work of the present administration".


Baring his mind, the former Deputy Speaker of the assembly, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo (Numan), stated that the budget is timely, saying that the money allocated to ministries, departments and agencies are appropriate.


On his part, the member representing Fufore/Gurin constituency, Hon. Barr. Umar Bobbo Ismail noted that the bill is of paramount importance to economic realities of today's Nigeria.


Hon. Barr. Umar explained that in every situation government finds itself, it supports the activities of MDAs with a supplementary budget, saying that the importance of the bill cannot be over-emphasized.


In his contribution, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Buba Jijiwa (Jada/Mbulo), commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his timely intervention, and urged the assembly to pass the bill to enable the executive arm meet the yearnings and aspirations of citizens.


Speaking while presiding over the sitting, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, thanked the members for their contributions on the bill, saying that they all aware of the situation the country has found itself.


Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley said that the bill is very important and dear to the people of the state and it should be supported, explaining that the bill is in the interest of the state.


After the bill was read for the 3rd time, the Speaker directed the clerk to prepare a clean copy of bill for Governor's assent.
