FRIVOLOUS PETITION: TRIBUNAL ORDERS EX- ADHA MEMBER TO PAY N200,000 TO EMMANUEL KEFAS

Former Member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Safiyanu Muleng, has been ordered to pay the sum of N200,000 to Hon. Emmanuel Kefas. News Platform

Hon. Emmanuel Kefas is the incumbent member representing Song constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly under PDP platform.

The Election Petition Tribunal awarded N200,000 against Hon. Muleng and All Progressives Congress (APC), while delivering judgement in petition he had instituted before it.

While delivering judgement in the petition, Hon. Justice Aloysius Okuma, declared that the petitioners had failed woefully to prove their petition with a convincing evidence.

According to him, Hon. Muleng and his party are not entitled to any of the relifs sought and dismissed the petition with N200,000 cost in favour of Hon. Emmanuel Kefas.

Earlier Hon. Muleng alleged that the declaration of Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, as elected member to represent Song constituency is invalid by reason of substantial non compliance with the provision of the electoral act.

On his part, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas told the tribunal that the petition is not supported by any valid ground, arguing that the petition is incompetent, and that it should be dismissed in its entirety.

Hon. Emmanuel Kefas described it as frivolous, vexatious and incurably defective to link it with cogent and credible evidence and prayed the tribunal to dismiss it.
