HUDU CONNIVED WITH INEC TO FRUSTRATE CASE- JUDGE

Adamawa State High of Justice presided by Benjamin Manji Lawan, has alleged that there is a connivance between the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, and the Independent National Electorate Commission (INEC) to frustrate case before him.

Justice Benjamin Manji Lawan, noted with dismay the inability of both the prosecution and counsels to the defendant to arraign Barr. Hudu, to stand his trial despite series of adjournments.

The Judge had while presiding over sitting Wednesday, alleged that there is something between the prosecution and the defendant to frustrate case which the court does not know, assuring that the court will get there.

This followed another failure of the prosecution to arraign the suspended REC to face trial on 6-count charge slammed against him by the Independent National Electorate Commission (INEC).

The case which was scheduled for Wednesday, for arraignment of the suspended REC again could not hold due to failure of the defendant to show up and the withdrawal of his counsel, Dr. Suleiman Usman (SAN), from the matter.

Dr. Suleiman, who at the previous sittings promised to produce Hudu, for prosecution, announced his withdrawal from the case through A. U. Bello, who appeared for the new counsel to the defendant, L. O. Oko.

A. U. Bello, told the court that Dr. Suleiman had informed them that his client had debriefed him and hired a new counsel who will now appear and defend him in court.

On his part, F. T. Ekyaan, who announced his appearance for the prosecution, asked for a new date to enable the prosecution expedite effort to arraign the defendant.

Ekyaan, promised to mount pressure on the police to ensure his arraignment at the adjourned date and regretted the delay in arraigning him.
