SECURITY GUARD SHOOTS POLICE INSPECTOR TO DEATH WHILE RESCUING FROM "SHILA" BOYS



A security guard along side a suspected "Shila" boy have been remanded in prison custody in Yola, Adamawa State for allegedly  killing an Inspector of Police identified as Richard Felix.


The security guard, Andy Ukoh, as well as the "Shila" boy known as Mordecai Elisha, were remanded at the correctional center by the Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola, Adamawa State for alleged offences.


The duo were earlier arraigned before the court presided by Muhammed Buba, over the allegations of criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of weapon, being in possession of dangerous weapons, armed robbery, voluntary causing of grievous hurt and culpable homicide.


Arraigning the accused, the Prosecuting Police Officer, AS Francis Audu, informed the court that the multiple offences contravened sections 60, 399,73,287,and 191 of the penal code law 2018.


News Platform learnt thet the 42 years security guard accidentally murdered the police officer while trying to rescue him from 5 suspected "Shila" boys including the 23 year-old Mordecai. 


During arraignment, Andy pleaded not guilty while Mordecai admitted having committed the alleged affences. The matter was adjourned to the 18th January, 2024, to await legal advice from the DPP.


The deceased attached to 43 PMF Lagos State was killed while on his way home in Jambutu, Yola North LGA, from Sangamu hotel on the 1st January, 2024 around 1:00 am.


News Platform gathered that shortly on leaving the hotel compound, late Inspector Richard, was trailed and attacked by no fewer than 5 "Shila" boys including Mordecai.


The security guard who was manning the gate of the hotel, saw how the police officer being attacked by the hoodlums and decided to rush to the scene of the crime and rescue him.


Reaching the scene of the crime, the security guard started dragging with the attackers and in the process, his single barrel rifle mistakenly discharged and shot the Police Inspector to death.
