The member representing Lamurde constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Bauna Myandassa, has expended the sum of N50million on grains for distribution to his electorate as part of his constituency project.
Hon. Bauna, announced this known while speaking at a townhall meeting which he personally convened and held at Lamurde on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the former member Demsa, Numan and Lamurde at the House of Representatives, Hon. Talatu Yohanna, former member Lamurde constituency, Hon. Mike Zidon, Chairman of Lamurde LGC, Councillors, Development Area Administrators, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders among others.
The lawmaker said that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had approved the sum of N50million for them to supply food items for their constituents considering the excruating economic hardship being faced by their electorate.
He explained that the money was not given to him cash but was channelled through Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) responsible for supplying the food items, saying that even his humble self does not have access to the funds.
He explained that no legislator is given the money cash; instead, it was channelled through PAWECA for the agency to buy food items for their electorate, saying that nobody should think that the money is in the account number of members.
He said that he is aware that some people are expecting that he will use the money and connect communities with power supply, lamenting that there is tension, frustration and hunger; hence, the decision to buy food items.
He warned that he will not take it lightly with whoever that tempered with the foodstuffs since he did not divert or use it for his personal interest, saying that injustice and lack of honesty is the major challenge of the country.
He said that his late father had advised him to stand for the truth in all his undertakings and that he will not compromise his stand because of money, pointing out that the money is for the people of Lamurde constituency.
He urged the stakeholders to thank Governor Fintiri for the approval and his commitment in transforming the state, saying that the Governor had promised to execute some projects in Lamurde LGA.
He recalled that when Governor Fintiri gave them N40million during his first tenure, he tabled the money before Lamurde stakeholders who collectively decided on what should be done with it.
According to him, they used part of the money in connecting Tigno, Bashaka with power supply, supplied transformer for Gyawana Community and sank 12 boreholes in his constituency.
He used the opportunity and drew the attention of the stakeholders on the need to preach on harmony in their various communities, and tasked them not to allow their people to participate in the planned protest.
In his remarks, the former member Lamurde constituency Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Zidon, commended the Lawmaker for being opened and transparent in his representation, and prayed God to continue to see him through in his stewardship.
Also speaking, the Chairman Lamurde LGC, Hon. Bulus Daniel, said that it is good to have a good leader on the helms of affairs, stressing that the member has been representing Lamurde effectively.
He specifically thanked the Governor for supporting the member with money to put smile in the faces of his electorate, saying that God will not withhold good things to him because he is a man of respect, honour and proven character.
Hon. Bulus, added that what it takes to be a leader is transparency and accountability, and that the electorate in Lamurde are happy and grateful to the member for bringing home what is meant for them.
Hon. Daniel, described the meeting as unique and appealed to the stakeholders to make use of the decision that will be taken at the meeting.
He called on the traditional rulers, councillors to do justice in the course of distribution of food items to their wards, saying that everybody will know the number of bags that will be allocated in all the wards.
Baring his mind, Chief Linus Anonoma, the 2nd in Command to His Royal Majesty, Homun Daniel Shaga, applauded the member for standing firm towards ensuring that the resources that are meant for the public are delivered to them.
Chief Linus expressed optimism that the member will finish his tenure successfully without regret considering his transparency and accountability in his stewardship.
In their goodwill messages, the Leader Lamurde LGC, Hon. Earnest Dabo, Administrator Wadugu Development Area, Relestha Gashikada, representative of PDP Ward Chairmen, Hon. Esthon Kwayze, said that they are lucky to have Hon. Bauna as their representative.
They assured the member will ensure that they distribute the food items judiciously and appreciated Governor Fintiri for the approval.
In his welcome address, the Chairman PDP Lamurde LGA, Hon. Dimas Bello, commended the member for organising the townhall meeting, and thanked the stakeholders for attending it.
