The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has disclosed that 12 out of 19 registered political parties are expected to participate in the forthcoming Local Government election.
The Chairman of ADSIEC, Alh. Mohammed Umar, made this known while speaking to journalists, shortly after two days screening exercise of the candidates.
Alh. Mohammed Umar, assured that the whole process would be credible and transparent, saying that any political party that emerged victorious would be declared winner.
The screening exercise is aimed at ensuring that all aspiring candidates meet the necessary requirements and standards to run for office, thereby upholding the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
The exercise recorded a significant turnout of candidates from various LGAs especially those that encountered problems with their documents in day one.
The diverse pool of candidates reflects the democratic spirit and the active political engagement within the state.
Candidates were also given the opportunity to present their documents and respond to questions from the screening committee.
Many candidates commended ADSIEC for the thoroughness and transparent screening process, and expressed confidence in the commission's ability to conduct fair exercise.
Others said that the screening was rigorous and well-organized, saying that it is reassuring to see such dedication to ensuring that only qualified candidates can contest.
Observers such as security personnel, board of internal revenue members, civil society organizations, as well as the media were present to monitor the proceedings, ensuring accountability and fostering public trust in the electoral process.
