ADAMAWA POLICE INSPECTOR SHOOTS MAN TO DEATH

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested and detained an Inspector, Namunde Elon, attached to Dumne Division, for allegedly shooting dead a man identified as Haruna Mahmuda. The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the arrest of the accused. NEWS PLATFORM learnt that the incident occurred on Monday at about 11:00 p.m while the inspector and other police officers were on patrol. A source claimed that the Inspector shot at the tyre of a vehicle the deceased was driving as a result of which he was hit by bullet. It was gathered that the officer opened fire when he discovered that the victim was trying to hit him with the vehicle. While confirming the incident to NEWS PLATFORM on Wednesday, DSP Nguroje, said that the suspect has been arrested and currently being investigated.

UPDATE: ADSIEC CONCLUDES TRAINING OF AD HOC STAFF FOR APRIL LGC POLLS

Ahead of Local Government Councils Election scheduled for 9th April, 2022, the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has concluded Three- Day training of the Ad-hoc Staff for the exercise. The training which took place simultaneously, attracted large turn out of applicants across the 21 who had earlier forwarded their applications for recruitment. Earlier, the electoral body in a statement by its Chairman, Mallam Isa Shettima, called on all Resident Electoral Officers (REOs) / Assistant Resident Electoral Officers (AREOs) to give every candidate who applied for the exercise equal opportunity. Mallam Shettima, appealed to them to accord every applicant opportunity to participate in the exercise and write a test after which the most qualified and credible ones will be selected based on performance. COURT REMANDS FEMALE WHO ESCAPED FROM BOKO HARAM FOR KILLING BABY

Barely one (1) year after escaping from Boko Haram captivity, a 20 year old mother, Amina Umar, has been remanded in prison custody after she admitted killing her 3 day old baby boy. Amina Umar of Tasa Jabbe in Madagali Local Government Area, who was pregnant for Buba Musa, delivered on the 14th March, 2022 and exterminated the baby on the 17th March, 2022 with pesticide. It was learnt that sometimes in 2013, when Amina was 12 years old was  abducted by Boko Haram terrorists and married off to Bakura, one of the Commanders of the insurgents in Sambisa forest. She was abducted by the dreaded Boko Haram while she was on her way to deliver food to her parents who were working in the farm. Life may no longer be the same for Ladi Ishaku, a final year student of the Federal College of Education(FCE) Yola, in Adamawa state, as a result of acid attack which severely damaged her body. The 27 year old Lady who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Yola, was attacked with liquid substance suspected to be acid at their compound at about 2:30am on Tuesday. Ladi who hails from Shiure, a Dumne community in Song Local Government Area, resides in their family compound at Lainde Badirisa in Girei LGA where the tragedy struck. As a result of the attack,the victim had her entire body completely disfigured or damaged. The incident was said to have occurred at night when she was deeply asleep. ADAMAWA CP HONOURS DEDICATED, DANCING TRAFFIC WARDEN

Adamawa State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Ahmed Barde, on Friday, honoured a Traffic Warden Grade I of the Central Motor Traffic Division, Husseini Jidauna, for his dedication to duty. The Traffic Warden has been described as one of the hardworking, committed officer who is always happy and dancing while performing his official duty. Speaking while presenting a commendation letter to the officer at the police headquaters, the Commissioner of Police told him that the command is proud of him, and urged him not to relent in putting his best for the society. CP Barde, said that the officer is dedicated to his job, honest and hardworking and deserves to be recognised so as to spur him to do more, and appealed to others to emulate him. COURT ORDERS EX-APC N/EAST VICE CHAIR TO PAY N55MILLION TO FORMER NWC MEMBER

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has ordered the former National Vice Chairman Northeast Zone of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Com. Mustapha Salihu, to pay the sum of N55million as damages to former National Welfare Secretary of the party, Alh. Ibrahim Kabir Masari. Equally, the court has ordered Com. Mustapha to formally apologize in writing to the former National Welfare Secretary and former Member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party. Com. THREE "SHILA" BOYS ESCAPE BEING BURNT ALIVE IN YOLA

Tragedy was averted on Tuesday in Yola, Adamawa State after Three (3) notorious "Shila" boys escaped being burnt to death after they apprehended by the mob. The boys narrowly escaped being burnt alive by angry mob after a failed attempt to snatch a phone from man at Malamre in Yola North Local Government Area. The boys include; Muhammed Usman, 22, of Zango street, Musa Adamu, 19, and Mohammed Salihu, 19, of Majalisa street in Yola North LGA. Amina Umar, who was divorced by her husband, took in for another man identified as Buba Musa where she gave birth to a bouncing baby and murdered him after 3 days. She was said to have delivered on the 14th March, 2022 and exterminated the baby on the 17th March, 2022 with substance suspected to be pesticide. The 20 year old divorcee who hails Madagali Local Government Area, revealed that she killed her 3-day old child because his father could not cater for her and her child. Fake Police Inspector identified as Abdullahi Yakubu, was on Monday, convicted and sentenced to 3 years inprisonment by the Chief Magistrate court I in Yola, Adamawa state. Abdullahi who was parading himself as "Inspector Ibrahim" bagged 3 year prison term for offence of impersonation contrary to section 145 of the penal code law with N100, 000 option of fine. He was discharged and acquitted by the magistrate court presided by Abdullahi Mohammed Digil, for the offence of "being in possession of hard drugs" for lack of eveidence. It was a celebration galore at Karlahi, in Fufore Local Government Area, Adamawa state as Marafa football club of Mayo Ine clinched 1st edition of Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak Unity Cup. Marafa football club defeated the host team, Jakada of Karlahi football club in the finals of the maiden edition of Hon. Yapak Unity Football tournament. PHINEAS PADIO WINS CORRESPONDENTS' CHAPEL ELECTION

Mr Phineas Padio has been elected as the Chairman Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa state. Padio who reports for Sahara reporters, beat 2 opponents to emerge the new chairman of the chapel on Saturday. He scored 23 votes to defeat Umar Dankano of Peoples Daily who polled 13 votes and Daji Sani of This Day newspapers who scored no vote. Other officials of the chapel who emerged unopposed include; Ibrahim Kado, Vice Chairman, Percy Dabang, Secretary, Auwal Umar, Financial Secretary, while the post of Treasurer goes to Amina Abdullahi among others. DRUNK MAN STABS BEER PALOUR OWNER TO DEATH IN ADAMAWA

A drunk man identified as Mohammed Usman has been remanded for stabbing owner of a local beer palour, Mathew Luka, to death. Mohammed who hails from Wuro Bokki, Malabu ward in Fufore LGA, Adamawa state was remanded in prison custody after he pleaded guilty to stabbing Mathew of the same address to death. NEWS PLATFORM learnt that the incident occured on Tuesday 15th March, 2022 at the beer palour in Wuro Bokki as a result of misunderstanding between the duo. Bauna, said that the governor deserves to be given a pat on the back for graciously granting approval for another N40 million constituency project fund so as to execute 2022 constituency projects for his electorate. Two patent medicine vendors, Habu Badiru and Auwal Lawan have confessed to administering pentorline injection on a commercial tricycle operator, Algoni Goni of Uba in Adamawa state to death. The 27 year old Habu of Askira Uba, Borno state and the 26 year old Lawan of Uba Hildi in Adamawa state respectively confessed that they injected Goni with the overdose of pentor and also strangulated him to death so as carry his new tricycle. According to them, they killed their victim on the 4th March, 2022, dumped his corpse in a river in Uba, Hong LGA, after which Badiru rode on the tricycle to Mubi so as to sell it. The suspects narrated that they murdered their victim in order to sell his tricycle and raise the sum of N100, 000 for Habu Badiru, to settle debt. JUST IN: ADHA SLATES MEDIA SALARY BILL FOR PASSAGE

Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, slated a bill for a law to increase the retirement years and other allowences for media workers so as to enhance their condition of the service for third reading. The unanimous resolution of the members to fix the bill for 3rd reading, followed the presentation, consideration and adoption of the report of the ad hoc committee set up to scrunize the bill.    The report which was submitted by the vice chairman of the committee and member representing Verre Constituency, Hon. A man simply identified as Alhaji Salisu Adamu of Shelleng Local Government Area, Adamawa state has fallen victim of fraud which resulted in the loss of N1.3 million. Alhaji Salisu was duped N1.3million by a herbalist identified as Alhaji Bala, of Army barracks road in Yola, Adamawa state after his encounter with him in 2021. Alhaji Bala, had promised to print the whooping sum of N500million fake currency for Alhaji Salisu, and eventually collected N1.3million from him so as to use it in buying animals for sacrifice as well as consulting demons. Alhaji Salisu, was introduced to the herbalist by a business man known as Ado Mohammed of Sabon Layi in Gombi town, Gombi Local Government Area in the state. COURT FREEZES NUADSS BANK ACCT OVER DIVERSION OF N5MILLION BY PRESIDENT

Upper Area Court II sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Friday, ordered the freezing of bank account belonging to the National Union of Adamawa State Students (NUADSS) over alleged diversion of over N5million by its president, Comrade Nuruddeen Abubakar. The court ordered the freezing of NUADSS' account number: 1002695409 domiciled in UBA to restrain Com Nuruddeen, from accessing less than N3million balance in the account pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. The order was sequel to an ex-parte application in a suit No.UAC2Y/CV/32/2022, filed by 14 Exco of the union where they prayed the court to freeze the account over gross misconduct and misappropriation of funds by their boss. LG ELECTION: ADSIEC TO SCREEN CHAIRMEN, VICE NEXT WEEK

Ahead Local Government Councils election slated for April 9th, 2022, the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has fixed Monday and Tuesday next week for the screening of chairmen and vice chairmen. The screening timetable released by its Chairman, Alhaji Isa Shettima, and made availabe to NEWS PLATFORM on Thursday by its Information Officer, Innocent Daniel, said that the exercise will commence on the 14th to 15th March, 2022. According to the commission, chairmen and vice chairmen from Northern/Central Senatorial Zone A which comprises Madagali, Michika, Mubi South, Mubi North, Maiha, Hong, Gombi, Song, Girei and Fufore are to be screened on Monday and Tuesday. It added that the Southern Senatorial Zone B which has Toungo, Ganye, Jada, Mayo Belwa, Muman, Demsa, Lamurde, Guyuk, Shelleng, Yola North, and Yola South are also expected to be screened on the 14th and 15th March, respectively.
