COURT FREEZES NUADSS BANK ACCT OVER DIVERSION OF N5MILLION BY PRESIDENT

Upper Area Court II sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Friday, ordered the freezing of bank account belonging to the National Union of Adamawa State Students (NUADSS) over alleged diversion of over N5million by its president, Comrade Nuruddeen Abubakar.

The court ordered the freezing of NUADSS' account number: 1002695409 domiciled in UBA to restrain Com Nuruddeen, from accessing less than N3million balance in the account pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The order was sequel to an ex-parte application in a suit No.UAC2Y/CV/32/2022, filed by 14 Exco of the union where they prayed the court to freeze the account over gross misconduct and misappropriation of funds by their boss.

Equally, the exco urged Hon. Daniel John led upper area court to compel the defendant/respondent to account for all the monies he had diverted as well as refer the union's account to external auditors for auditing.

Hon. Daniel John had while ruling, granted the reliefs sought and subsequently adjourned the matter to the 17th March, 2022 for mention.

In an affidavit deposed to by one of the exco, Mohammad Kamal Mohammad, a copy of which was obtained by NEWS PLATFORM, said that as at September, 2019, the union had N10million in its account.

It explained that the exco formally withdrew the sum of 2million which was used in carrying out some of their activities, and that since then, the president had been tempering with the students resources to the extend of diverting over N5million.

It said that the available balance in the account at the moment is less than N3million which is supposed to be N8million since they withdrew N2million only.

It further alleged that the statement of account they had obtained revealed that the president had transfered over N2million into his personal account apart from other withrawals from time to time.
