A drunk man identified as Mohammed Usman has been remanded for stabbing owner of a local beer palour, Mathew Luka, to death.
Mohammed who hails from Wuro Bokki, Malabu ward in Fufore LGA, Adamawa state was remanded in prison custody after he pleaded guilty to stabbing Mathew of the same address to death.
NEWS PLATFORM learnt that the incident occured on Tuesday 15th March, 2022 at the beer palour in Wuro Bokki as a result of misunderstanding between the duo.
He was earlier arraigned before chief magistrate court I presided by chief magistrate Muhammed Abdullahi Digil, by the prosecutor, Seargent Sawe Nicholas, who held the brief of Inspector Aliyu.
While in court, Mohammed confessed that he did not even know that he had killed the beer palour owner until he was told by the police the following morning.
He said he woke up in the morning and found himself in a strange room, and that he stood up and knocked at the door, but to his greatest surprise, it was a police officer who opened the door.
Mohammed narrated that he asked the police officer "what took me into this strange room?", and that the police told him to cast his mind back to where he went last.
He stated thus, " The police officer asked me to touch my waist whether my knife is still with me. When I touched it, I found out that my knife was no longer with me.
"The police officer then brought my knife stained with blood and told me that I had stabbed Mathew Luka, owner of beer parlour on his chest and that he is now dead,"he added.
"I told the officer that it is possible because I drank water(beer)". He further explained that he did not know when he did the act because he was under the influence of alcohol.
Earlier, the prosecutor informed the court that the defendant stabbed the deceased with a knife on his chest and was confirmed death at the Specialist Hospital in Yola.
According to him, the alleged offence (culpable homicide) runs contrary to section 192 of the Adamawa State penal code law 2018.
The court adjourned the matter to the 19th April, 2022, so as to await legal advice from DPP Ministry of Justice.
