2023: INEC REGISTERS 111, 762 VOTERS, DECENTRALISES REG IN ADAMAWA




The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has registered a total of 111, 762 voters across the 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa state.


The commission explained that out of 111, 762 voters registered online, 83, 395 have completed all the processes as at 7th March, 2022, adding that about 454 people living disabilities were also registered by electoral body.


It disclosed that other milestones recorded by the commission include; 2, 983 reviews, 9, 512 information updates, 14, 434 transfers, 3, 427 permanent voters card collections, 5, 147 card loss, 2, 032, defaced card replacements.


The Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), Adamawa state, Kassim G. Gaidam, made this known while briefing press at the commission on Wednesday.


Gaidam, said that the commission has also approved the decentralisation of the Continuous Voter Registration(CVR) to registration areas/wards level on rotational basis so as to cover eligible voters located far away from present CVR centres.


He stated that the approved schedule for the rotation by LGAs will be given wider publicity for prospective registrants in the affected locations to avail themselves of long awaited opportunity for registration with ease.


He said CVR will be suspended around June preparatory to processing the data in readiness for the elections, adding that the commission has granted approval for the redeployment of Heads of Departments(HODs) and Electoral Officers(EOs) who have stayed long in their states of posting.
