Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 20 year old, Amina Umar, for killing her 3-day-old baby boy with pesticide used in killing rats.
Amina Umar, who was divorced by her husband, took in for another man identified as Buba Musa where she gave birth to a bouncing baby and murdered him after 3 days.
She was said to have delivered on the 14th March, 2022 and exterminated the baby on the 17th March, 2022 with substance suspected to be pesticide.
The 20 year old divorcee who hails Madagali Local Government Area, revealed that she killed her 3-day old child because his father could not cater for her and her child.
While giving a graphic account of how she killed the baby at the police headquaters in Yola, Adamawa State, Amina said "I regretted killing my baby".
NEWS PLATFORM learnt that Amina who was divorced by her husband, took in for the 22 year old married man and her former boy friend known as Buba Musa, after he had promised to take her as 2nd wife.
It was gathered that on the day of the incident, the teen mother sent a boy to buy pesticide for her which she gave the baby leading to his untimely death.
After administering the chemical, Amina told her neighbours that her baby is sick unknown to her that her neighbours heard her conversation with the boy while sending him to buy the pesticide.
She later informed them that the baby is dead, but that her neighbours became very suspicious of her action and decided to report the matter at the police station in Madagali.
It was the police who took the corpse of the baby after arresting the mother where she admitted killing the baby.
The 22 year old father of the deceased, Buba Musa, who was paraded along side Aminu, admitted that he was the one who impregnated her after she was divorced by her husband.
Buba, who is a mechanic said that he did not know when she delivered because he fell sick and had surgery, saying that he was informed about the incident.
The spokesman of the police command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, told NEWS PLATFORM that the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution after investigation.
