SHOCKING: MAN LANDS IN PRISON FOR SELLING 6 NEIGHBOURS' KIDS




A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Tuesday, ordered the remand of Yohanna Saidolo, for dealing in human beings and trafficking in persons.


Senior Magistrate Alheri Ishaku, ordered that Saidolo of Koma village in Jada Local Government Area, be remanded in prison custody after he pleaded guilty for the offences.


Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Ibrahim Aliyu, informed the court that the offences run contrary to sections 257 and 259 of the state penal code law, 2018.


Inspector Aliyu, had while arraigning Saidolo, said that a resident of Koma, Markus Anthony, and 5 others reported to the police on the 5th February, 2022, that the defendant deceived them and took 6 of their children to an unknown destination.


According to him, the defendant of the same address deceived them in the name of enrolling their children in a missionary school in Jimeta and took 6 of their kids to a destination not known to them and could not set their eyes on them since then.


After the plea of the defendant, the prosecutor applied that the matter be adjourned to enable them conclude investigation for the purpose of transmitting case file to DPP for advice.


While ruling on the application, magistrate Alheri, adjourned the matter to the 25th March, 2022 and ordered the remand of the defendant as prayed.


While in a chat with NEWS PLATFORM, Saidolo, narrated that he handed over the children to Madam Lydia of Rhumde Baru in Yola North LGA in May and July, 2021, respectively.


He explained that he handed over 6 children of his neighbours along side 2 of his children bringing the total of 8 children and not 6 for the purpose of enrollment in the school and not trafficking.


He told NEWS PLATFORM that he did not visit the woman again since the period he brought the children to her, and that some women from their community visited her during which she informed them that the children were sound and healthy but could not see them.
