A man simply identified as Alhaji Salisu Adamu of Shelleng Local Government Area, Adamawa state has fallen victim of fraud which resulted in the loss of N1.3 million.
Alhaji Salisu was duped N1.3million by a herbalist identified as Alhaji Bala, of Army barracks road in Yola, Adamawa state after his encounter with him in 2021.
Alhaji Bala, had promised to print the whooping sum of N500million fake currency for Alhaji Salisu, and eventually collected N1.3million from him so as to use it in buying animals for sacrifice as well as consulting demons.
Alhaji Salisu, was introduced to the herbalist by a business man known as Ado Mohammed of Sabon Layi in Gombi town, Gombi Local Government Area in the state.
The victim who first came in contact with Ado at Gombi market, briefed him about his quest to get rich and assured him of his readiness to do what it takes to get money.
It was at this point that, Ado informed him about the activities of the herbalist and both arranged to visit him so as to print fake currency for him.
As arranged, Ado and Alhaji Salisu visited the residence of the herbalist located along Army barracks road and requested him to print the money for him.
Alhaji Bala, who agreed to do as requested, took them round his house where he showed them a drum full of N1000 denomination, and assured them that he will print same to Alhaji Salisu, within short period of time.
But after the expiration of the time given to him without seeing the money, Alhaji Salisu, became worried and suspicious of the whole deal and decided to report Ado to the operatives of the state police command attached to SIB.
Ado who was apprehended following the complaint, led the operatives to the residence of the herbalist unknown to them that he had since disappeared and all their effort to trace his whereabout was fruitless.
When arraigned before chief magistrate court I in Yola for crimanal conspiracy and fraud contrary to sections 60 and 317 of the penal code law, the defendant pleaded guilty to offences.
After his plea, the presiding judge, Muhammed Abdullahi Digil, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody and subsequently adjourned the matter to the 30th March, 2022 for corroboration and summary trial as prayed by the prosecutor, Inspector Nurudeen Abubakar.
While speaking to NEWS PLATFORM, Ado narrated that there was a time that he gave the herbalist the sum of N300, 000, in order to print N40million for him so as to boost his business.
He said that after he had waited for long time without the money materialising, he stormed the herbalist's residence but was informed that he (Ado) had black demons and that the demons will not in anyway allow him(the herbalist) to print money.
Ado explained that he took Alhaji Salisu to the herbalist in good fate so that he will try his luck, saying that he thought Alhaji Salisu's demons will give permission to the herbalist so as to print the money he demanded.
