Worried by the incessant clashes between Lunguda and Waja in Guyuk and Lamurde Local Government Areas respectively, the Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday, set up a 5-Man Committee to investigate the clashes.
According to the Assembly, the Committee is to unravel the circumstances surrounding the clashes with a view to proffer a lasting solution for peace and stability in the affected communities.
The Committee has the Majority Leader, Hon. Hammantukur Yetisuri(Jada Mbulo) as its Chairman, while Hon. Myandassa Bauna(Lamurde), Hon. Bathiya Wesley(Hong), Hon. Adwawa Donglock(Guyuk) and Hon. Abdullahi Ahmadu(Leko Koma) as members.
The Committee is expected to carry out investigation as well as submit its recommendations within 2 weeks for consideration. NEWS PLATFORM can report.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, who announced the membership of the committee while presiding over the sitting, tasked them to carry out their assignment with a sincere mind in order curb the clashes.
The constitution of the Committee followed a matter of urgent public interest brought before the hallowed chamber by the member representing Lamurde constituency, Hon. Myandassa Bauna.
Hon. Myandassa had while briefing his colleagues on the recent clashes, said "enough is enough" to what he described as annual clashes which result to loss of lives and wanton destruction of public property.
He appealed to the Assembly to as a matter of urgency, constitute an ad hoc to critically look into the matter with a view to ending it for peaceful coexistence between the warring communities.
Lending his voice, Hon. Adwawa Donglock(Guyuk) said it is high time to find a lasting solution on the disturbances and however supported the formation of the committee.
Hon. Adwawa, used the avenue and extended his appreciation to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his timely intervention and how he visited their communities, saying this is a clear demostration that the Governor has the love of their people at heart.
