The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 7 suspects including 3 Women in connection to the brutal murder and burning of a 74 year old Zira Gree, of Gelegu village, Michika Local Government Area.
The suspects nabbed by the police include; Tumba Dalle, 68, Mary Kwoji, 45, Deliver Tumba, 28, Okoko Sini, 28 and Esther Kwatri, 34.
Others are; Usa Okoko, 20 and Husseini Kwoji, 22, residents of Kopale village, Michika LGA.
A release by the Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Friday, said that the suspects were arrested on the 31st May, 2022.
SP Nguroje, disclosed that the accused persons conspired, waylaid and mangled the victim to death and subsequently burnt his corpse beyond recognition on the 29th April, 2022.
"Investigation so far revealed that the suspects had earlier alleged that the victim was responsible for the death of their aged father, Kwoji Sini, who died on the 17th April, 2022 at General Hospital Michika after a protracted illness", SP Nguroje added.
He stated thus:"Angered by their father's death suspected to have been caused by the victim through fetish means, they suspects decided to take laws into their hands by killing and burning the 74year old man".
He said that the suspects were apprehended by the Command's Operatives attached to Michika Divisional Police Headquarters , following a report received from the family members of the deceased.
He pointed out that the Commissioner of Police, SK Akande, has since directed for discreet investigation into the matter, and warned the public to desist forthwith from any act capable of causing breakdown of law and order, saying police will not fold its arms and allow people take laws into their hands.
