For now, the Yola Correctional Centre in Adamawa State is the abode of an House Wife, Hapsat Saidu, and 2 Siblings, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation into the killing of 60 year old Saidu Mamman.
Hapsat who is Wife to Late Saidu Mamman, while Fa'iza Saidu and Faisal Saidu, Daughter and Son of the Deceased respectively, allegedly conspired among themselves and gruesomely murdered their Victim.
They had confessed to paying the sum of N120, 000, to one Mathew Peter(aka Goga) who assassinated their breadwinner for his refusal to give them a breathing space and in order to inherit his property.
While, the trio are currently behind bars following an order of Yola Chief Magistrate Court I, the whereabout of Goga is not known as he was said have since escaped.
NEWS PLATFORM gathered that Saidu Mamman was killed on the 4th April, 2022 at his residence at Sangere FUTY in Girei Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
He was found uncounscious in the pool of his own blood by 6:00am and was rushed to the Specialist Hospital Yola, where he was confirmed death by the Medical Doctor.
According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Hamza Abdullahi, the State Police Command received a reliable information about the incident by 6:30 am on that fateful day and apprehended the Defendants in connection to the offence.
"The Defendants were arrested and confessed to have conspired among themselves and hired one Mathew Peter(now at large) at the sum of 120, 000, to kill the said Saidu", Inspector Hamza alleged.
While in Court, the Defendants pleaded guilty to" Criminal Conspiracy, Abettor Present when Offence Committed Liable as Principal and Culpable Homicide" which contravened sections 60, 54 and 191 of the State Penal Code Law, 2018.
It was at this juncture that the Prosecutor, applied that the case be adjourned because it is capital in nature so as to enable Police complete investigation and subsequently send case file to DPP for legal advice.
The Prosecutor's application was granted by the Court presided by Chief Magistrate Abdullahi Mohammed Digil, and adjourned the matter to the 4th July, 2022, and ordered that the Defendants be remanded in prison custody.
